I think Bell is $20/month or $200, whichever is greater. I'd get that verified though.

My apple loving co-worker says that she would need to buy out of her telus contract at 20$ month as well.

Rogers will charge as much as it can get away with.

I was talking to a Rogers store manager today. They have ordered more iPhones for July than they have Moto Razrs for the entire year. Yes, they expect huge demand.
My take: I expect Bell and Telus are already losing market share to Rogers and the iPhone isn't even here yet. I expect Bell and Telus to cut their data prices significantly and Rogers will be forced to follow. I don't expect a great data deal initially for iPhone users, but I expect the data prices to drop significantly over the next year or so.

I can't believe I have $15/month unlimited with my BB Pearl from Telus and Rogers STILL wont pony up and sell unlimited data. There's something fundamentally wrong with the Canadian wireless phone market. I'd have to think Telus is the least evil of the three companies that have monopolized the industry.

I phoned Bell the other day for a tech support question on my Treo and the guy on the line was offering me $250 off a new smart phone if I get it before my contract expires (November). So I guess they are trying to prevent losing customers in some way.

Telus is less evil? Hmmm... we could debate that for a while.
That $15 plan is for person email and instant messaging right? Not unlimited browsing.
A 1GB data plan on a blackberry is still $100 at Telus. Rogers has essentially the same plan.
I think that you're going to see Telus and Bell slashing data plan rates on their smartphones in order to try to stem the tide of people rushing over to Rogers. Rogers will be forced to respond in kind.
Rogers has been gaining market share for some time now, and until Telus and Bell roll out GSM they are going to be playing catchup with Rogers.

Telus has unlimited DATA (as in FULL data) for $15, not the "personal email plan" that Rogers has (which doesn't include browser/application data).
They offered it only with a new Pearl in December, then extended it to all Blackberries in January and then extanded it to all smart phones after that. I don't think it's advertised anymore, but I know you can still get it if you're not a jerk when you ask for it... and especially if you're wanting to switch to them from Rogers.

I can't wait until we get another cell provider other than Bell/Rogers/Telus who can do PDAs, because it is getting to the point where I will switch purely out of spite for these 3 horrid companies. My contract is up with Rogers now (going month to month), so I might be able to get a good deal out of Telus if they are really worried the iphone is going to eat their profits.

I'm buying a new mac on July 1 (hopefully), and because I work at the university I get a free ipod touch. I'd love to see some iphone data plans so I know if I should sell the touch and pick up the phone or not

^^ Even without a data plan it's a sweet device.
My favourite part is text messaging. I can't do it any other way now.. which pains me because I HATE Apple.

Ya, that's just incorrect. Entirely. Even with the iPhone data plan, my Telus setup is unmatched.
