Not the case here as the couple had lived in that house for 4 years.

Distraught father that has snapped, on the other hand, couldn't care less about drawing attention to himself.

Ugh, seriously?

I bet the murder rate in this city hasn't increased at the same rate as the population over the last few years.

I am going to do some digging about this and let you know.

Uh oh, CBC also has a quote from a neighbour that says this family was very nice, and attended community events. Unless this family has some very distraught family member or friend, this is going to be one very unlucky, otherwise loving family.

In other news, it doesn't seem to be a very good day for other Calgarians as well.

What a shame, I hate to see young folks die unnecessarily. Like others have said, seems like a domestic case to me.

It could be gang related. The old "Kill your family if you don't pay me" routine..

A family can be very nice and attend community events and still have trouble inside such as gambling or alcoholism.

A young family in their 30s.. so very sad

Wow, that's crazy. Dalhousie is very close to me. I'll be following this story for sure as well. I don't think it's random though. It seems like a murder-suicide situation.

Big mistake.
Did they edit it? Because right now they say it's in the 5000 block meaning it could be between 5000 and 5099 of the particular street.

Edit: Nm, this article says it is 5000.

I dunno. Some of the South East Asian gangs in Vancouver don't mind slicing people up.

I'm going to guess that it was either gang or mafia related, or at the very least, it was more than one perp. How does one person stab five people at one home? It must have been Chuck Norris.

You don't think there are mafia's in Canada? Have you ever heard of the Commisso family? They are an Italian mafia family based in Toronto.

http://www.canada.com/national/natio...0-ebfc4c7a4f2b

There are very prominant Chinese, Indian, Honduran, and Vietnamese organized crime groups in BC - I know that for a fact.

Even when I lived in Thunder Bay, there was a mafia related incident. A 12 year old went missing and was later discovered dead and buried on his family property. After the investigation, it came out that the father borrowed money from the mafia to run his business, when he forfeited, they killed his son and dropped the body off at his home.

I don't think the dispute is whether or not organized crime exists in Canada, it's whether or not they perpetrated this horrendous act. Obviously until more info comes out we have no idea what happened.

Obviously no one here knows what has happened. My response was to the person who seemed to suggest that mafia related murder is only on a television show... a show that I can honestly say that I have never watched.

Gangs to care about "press". Generally the public doesn't care if gang members off eachother as long as they don't bother them or their families. When Joe Sixpack and Susie Lunchpail get offed in their home, people get angry and put pressure on the cops to crack down.

If I recall correctly a lot of the montreal gangs sort of ran the city until they killed a small child in a car bombing gone wrong and then the police started to crack down.

Reminds me of an awful murder around here. Even in such a murder hotbed as Richmond,VA, completely random murders are quite rare:
Quote:
In the early afternoon of January 1, 2006, Kathryn, Bryan, Stella, and Ruby Harvey, a family of four, were found beaten, slashed and bound with electrical cord and tape in the basement of their burning house in the Woodland Heights district of Richmond, Virginia.
Kathryn Harvey, 39, was the co-owner of a popular local toy shop called "World of Mirth" in the Carytown district of Richmond, and the half-sister of actor Steven Culp. Bryan Harvey, 49, was an indie musician of note, a former member of House of Freaks, a two-man college-rock band in Richmond. Their daughters Stella and Ruby were 9 and 4, respectively. Bryan and Kathryn died of blunt-force trauma to the head, Stella of smoke inhalation and blunt-force trauma to the head, and Ruby of stab wounds to her back, one of which punctured her lung. [6]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Ri..._spree_murders

The scary thing is police kept saying it wasn't a random murder until the second family got murdered.
