It was stabbing deaths too. If it was gang style I'm sure it would quick and easy using guns.

Because they are not thinking, or care about the consequences? Sounds like a crime of passion, and emotion is a very powerful feeling. Makes you do all sorts of crazy stuff.

That is what i think is the case

This just happened in Victoria, Ottawa, Scarborough and of course in Merritt as well, half of all homicides in Canada are family related.

3rd Adult could be a senior adult.

May all the victims rest in peace.

Nope this article says the adults were about 30.

I think you're dead-on, except for this last part. Since when did gangs care about good press? Think about how many kids have caught in the crossfire between gangs.

The police would be even more likely to come down even harder on the gang if they did murder kids, gangs know this.

Seems pretty obvious... the more gang activity the cops/public are aware of the more they'll attempt to crack down on it. Given that, as a gang, you're not looking for crackdowns, it makes sense to keep a low profile on the killing front. Murders = attention.

Yeah, I doubt it was gang-related; this sounds like a family with internal issues. The fact that children were killed makes it all that much more likely.

Disturbing though, is the fact that the Northwest is turning into a more violent crime area; this and the recent Varsity shootings are but two examples to point out.

Calgary in general is turning into a more violent city.

Oh, I see where you're coming from. Of course, of course... I misinterpreted the original comment.

CBC.ca published the actual address, house number and everything.

Big mistake.

I don't think there is anything unique about the NW. It just happens to have a larger population than most (all?) of the other quadrants so the odds favor a higher frequency of events.

True. But if it was me, I don't think I would stab myself to death...

IIRC, that hasn't really stopped some gangs...

I think one thing is pretty certain, its probably not random. My bet is a jilted lover or psychotic divorcee was involved.

Either way, talk about crazy

Jeez, I bet it's a circus up there right now.

Could you imagine being a relative of one of the victims and finding out about it that way?

I suppose stories like this sell though.

As opposed to the good press gangs are usually interested in generating?

Unless you're going to be in the market for a cut-rate house in the near future.
