So people who lost their homes, savings, and jobs are meaningless?

A person from Ontario is more important than you are.
A truly "Canadian" ideal.

Actually for it to take until 23 pages of posts in a political thread to get a reference to Hitler is pretty darn good IMO.

I wonder if there were bulletin boards on the 30's Hitler would have been saying the same stuff ... sacrifice 10% of the population for the greater good. The scary part is that he really doesn't understand the implications of what he is saying. If there is such a thing as karma, he will find himself as part of the 10% on a very important life changing matter ... and then he'll figure it out.
That's why the distribution of power is so important to society.

You see, I see nothing wrong with funding a dildo museum, thats a museum that 50% of our population could enjoy..
The National Museum of art on the other hand is a waste of taxpayers dollars.

Actually, Hitler got referenced early on in the "OMGZ! Trudeau was teh gr8!" argument, so I'm not the one who invoked Godwin's Law.

I believe that the Liberals [federal] could get a foothold in Alberta if they chose an Albertan as their leader. Of course it would have to be an Albertan who was impressively fluent in French otherwise they would kiss their support in Quebec goodbye.

Exactly. Who cares if Albertans lose their homes and jobs, or businesses go bankrupt with some comitting suicide over it.

ya, nobody's perfect though. It was a pretty popular choice at the time. That is actually the one good thing Cretien did, is keep us out of that quagmire.
I'd say I'm socially liberal and economically conservative. Ignatief, (sp?) isn't a bad alternative.

Liberals [the party] care about getting elected. If they thought they could get elected by winning Alberta, they'd be here by the busload. Liberals in power would certainly care about Alberta, inasmuch as it's now become the third, possibly second, most important cog in the Canadian economy.
Liberals [the ideological group] care about Alberta because, like the rest of Canada, it's full of rocks and trees and lakes.
