It's completely true. I made the mistake of trying to eat a large donair in the car on the way home......you can imagine how that turned out.

Haha this is something I wouldn't put past myself. I love donairs!

I ate 3 in one night in Poland, that's my record. The next day was not pretty.

Unbelievable, and I believe it's partially owned by Dany Heatley (or just a good friend) because a few of his jerseys are hanging around the place.

Gotta disagree.. those are extremely average.
My Donair in Westbrook prior to it's e-coli scare was phenomenal. Now I can't go there anymore just knowing of that scare.

Queen Donair in Edmonton has the best donair's out of anything i've tried in Edmonton or Calgary. There is one on Whyte Ave and there is one on Jasper Ave. So amazing!

Best one in Edmonton IMO is a little further east along 82 Ave, kind of near Bonnie Doon Mall, cant remember the name just that it has a sign on the front that says FEDERALLY INSPECTED MEAT.

might try that some time, but queen donair is literally across the street and it has had at least one recommendation and i don't feel like driving for 5 minutes. So Queen Donair it is.

You can add me to this list. Also, just up the hill in Bridlewood there is a place that I'd recommend.I can't recall the name right now but it is right by the Getta Pizza place.

Simply the best I have ever had, my sister-in-law works there and she brings me them home for dinner 2-3 times a week min.

Haha ya its quite the culture in Edmonton, all those donair places. I've been livin here for about 2.5 years and goin for donairs after the bar is just what everybody does up here. I swear, go to any donair place at about 2:30am and its bumpin. I'm surprised Stony Plain Rd. has't been renamed Donair Drive, that's all that street is.
Calgary doesn't have near the amount of donair shops Edmonton does, but there's still some gooders. I don't know whereabouts in the city you live, but I lived in the SW, and just off of MacLeod Tr. and Southland Crossing is My Donair. Soooo damn good, I was going there practically every day after work when I was 18. And its one of the very few places that sells Stewart's cream ales, everybody wins!
EDIT: Just read something you wrote earlier in the thread, you're right, Queen's is outstanding. I love how they just drench your donair in that sauce, but if you get one after boozin oh man are you payin for it the next morning!

Garden Market sells the donair meat. I make my own and they are awesome. I even make my own sauce out of sour cream and cucumber. An old greek chef taught me how to make the tzaziki sauce for them. You dump the sour cream into a Jcloth and hang it up overnight to get all the water out. Then you chop up your cucumber and add it the next day. Soo good and authentic.

Knowing where you grew up I'm a little upset you're even thinking of getting a donair from anywhere else Neil. Distance is no excuse!
Fort McMurray = Oil and Donairs.
