The big name casinos are *very* strict about pretty much everything these days. You may have better luck downtown, and you can stretch your money further down there as well. Just be careful.

If you win money gambling, you're definitely going to want someone of legal age to claim your money. They will ID you for any receipt out of a slot machine, and they scrutinize ID and will confiscate it.
As for drinking, that really depends on the casino you're in. MGM Grand, for example, is a very easy place for underage drinking. The food court area has a place that sells, beer, margaritas and jello shots and anyone can walk up and buy as much as they want and return to the dining area and pass it out. There are no employees patrolling the food court area IDing people. We had a 20 year old with us who drank himself into a stupor and nobody gave him a second look. As long as you aren't trying to buy alcohol and you don't stumble around or pass out somewhere outside your room, you'd be fine at MGM Grand.

You must be either talking about 32 degrees or fat tuesdays. that's probably safer but I still think it's quite a gamble to do something that may impact your ability to go the states for years or decades thereafter.

I say do it - unless you have a real baby face.
Just got back from a super bender there this weekend, and only saw one guy get carded. So use the license, but get another one of his cards to have on hand (health card, old bank card, etc) so that you have 2 pieces of ID (though the other piece isn't "really" legit).
Not having your passport on you is quite normal, as you leave that in the room safe. Since you are of age here, I am sure you know what you want to drink and can handle a couple drinks.
And of course know your birthday off by heart and all other info on DL.

I went to Vegas when I was 19, and had an altered Alberta drivers licence that had the numbers of my birthday earased and new ones added to make my age 21. I went to MGM and sat down at the bar and played the built in slots. This way you still get free booze. Anyways the bartended carded me, and easily noticed that it was a fake. He gave me some phony story that my drink will take a minute to pour because the rum he had was stale and need to get a new bottle. In the mean time called security. I knew what he was up to immediatly but decided if I ran I would get caught before I hit the doors. So security came and took me to some back room, told me a bunch of bs of how much trouble they could bring on me but that they felt I deserve a second change and all. The kicker was they gave me my ID back, never understood why, it wasn't like it was of someone else's and they wanted me to return it, it was an alteration of my own. A poor one at that!
So anyway, not even 2 hours later I went to New york new york and sat down at the baccarat tables. This time they never carded me and I played for about an hour. Unbeleivably I was at $1200 from a $200 buy-in, so when I went to cash out and the lady at the counter asked me to verify my age, I scrambled through my wallet and acted as if I had left it in my room, that if she gave me 2 minutes I could get it as I was staying in one of their rooms. (I wasn't, and had planned to get someone of age to cash them for me). She then asked me what my birthday was, I quickly said my own just changing the year. She then dished out $1300 in 1 hundred dollar bills for exchange of my checks. Then with my winnings and my extra hundred I took my buddies out had one hell of a shindig at Jaguars (strip club) where I proceded to blows almost all of my winnings. Just as we were leaving, drunk as skunks, we asked the bouncer to call us a cab, he did but while we were waiting he over heard one of my friends talking over the music to another of my buds laughing at how much I got a way with being 19 and all. He litterally grabbed me, took me to this upstares office and called the cops while he held on to my arm. He said that I was rude to the dancers and deserved what was coming. ha. Cops came, I told them that I was never carded, even though I was, then gave the bouncer $h*t for his brutality against me and drove me and my friends back to our hotel. I kept cool the rest of my trip, I didn't want to push my luck and further.

Well that's just it - if you win big, then your arse is screwed.
Play more subtle games, and you'll do fine. Low-betting poker and blackjack tables are a good bet, as you can just take your chips and walk away. Don't pull the handle on the 10 foot tall VLT.

Haha I think my biggest win was $40. Anything I won, I just threw right back into the machine.
BTW, has anyone heard anything about the terrorist situation in Vegas? The 2nd day I was there we'd heard that the hotel just around the corner had quite the scare. Anyway, 4 or 5 people are really sick and might die. I watched CNN for a bit and never saw anything....

Maybe, I'm not sure exactly. I've only heard thru other people. Apparently there was a container of chemical (used for cancer research) in a ziploc bag in a hotel room. Security guards found out, so they broke into the room and stole the container, without even opening the bag. I've heard now that 4 of them are really sick and may die, and the hotel was evacuated also.
This is all just hearsay^^^ I haven't actual found a story on this...

I didn't hear about it at all and I was down from Thursday - Sunday. Weird. Also I'd like to point out there were a bunch of Flames fans down there!

I saw 1 Flames jersey, 1 Canucks, and 1 Whalers. Also, and I was not expecting this, but I caught NHL highlights a few different times at a couple different bars.
