you won't get caught. they spend more time figuring out where the brithdate is than anything else.
EDIT: unfortunately, i have no idea what happens if you were to get caught.

Exactly!!!
If you look remotely close you will be fine. If you get caught they probably take it away and tell you to get lost. Just make sure your brother won't press chargers if they pull the whole identity theft thing

I went at 20 with my family.
My oldest brother was 24, the next 22, me 20.
I used the oldest's ID.
We went to bars and lined up in this order.
Me, middle brother, random joe, random joe, oldest brother. I used his passport while he used his ID. No clue.
We sat at a table playing blackjack. All three of us. I started doing really well. Looking youngish and winning money the pit boss decided to come ID us all. We're the only three at the table. Went from Oldest, to middle, to me, two of us showing the same persons ID. They didn't notice.
So to answer your question - no idea haha!
But they don't seem smart enough to care, so I wouldn't worry about it. I think you'd just get booted from the joint. make sure that's the only ID you have on you though. That way you can demand it back so you don't lose it. If they don't believe you they can still boot you, but keep your ID. It'd suck to lose it the first night

Usually when you're caught with a fake ID, they just take the ID and ban you from the establishment. However, you can be fined, and worse case scenario, you can get banned from all casinos, as well as arrested.

So if you plan on using a passport for ID then that is really, really bad news.
You might be able to get away with a certain amount for drinking purposes, but if you win money and you're underage and get caught, make sure you have a good lawyer.
If you're just going to a bar to get hammered it seems fairly harmless, I wouldnt try it at a casino.

Most of the casinos are owned by MGM or Harrah's. I would imagine that if you get caught in one of those casino that they may ban you from all of their other casinos, but they may not work so closely together.

Therefore: use the DL instead of the passport.

Or be prepared to forfeit the money. That'd probably be a bargain they'd take.

Oh so true. So very true.
Ok, when I was 20 I went to Vegas for a brothers wedding. One of my other brothers MADE me a fake ID and the it worked like a charm. This was back in the days of the two parter licence though.
Not only did it take this one lady like a minute to locate my DOB but the date she "read off" my licence to me would have made me 19 and proceeded to give me my chips even though the date on my licence indicated I was 21. Odd lady she was.

I was in Vegas a couple months ago and we were all more then old enough but one person in our party looked quite young, Twice, once at Luxor and once at the Venetian (which was our hotel), we all showed ID and he and only he was taken to a security desk where they pulled out a big book that identified every major type of ID from North America and where all the numbers and such should be, then asked him a bunch of questions, before finally allowing him to continue.
In both cases he had to wear a special braclet for the rest of the night!
And he was 24 i think?
It definitely seemed like the casino's were taking it super seriously and that there would have been trouble if it had been a fake ID or whatnot. I imagine that they would have persued the 'Identity theft' route if it was a 'stolen ID' (IE: borrowed).

Definately use the DL instead of the passport, at least then you can leave after.
As for the money. They dont need to bargain, they can take the money back whether you offer it to them or not. You werent legally entitled to win it, so you've got no options.
Its just a question of how far they want to take the issue.

Exactly. It's really up to them, but usually most places won't give a crap. Most likely theyll just take it and tell you to get lost. I'd imagine you'd be fine getting into a bar with it. But a casino is a different sitchy. If you win a bunch of money then of course your ID comes into play, it aint worth the mess. Play the nickel slots just to say you gambled in Vegas, and hang out with your bro at the tables and watch them play, then go git er done at the bars at night. Come back to do some real gambling when you're of age. I wouldnt risk it.

Just don't let Joe Pesci get a hold of you, or he may put your head in a vise. Otherwise you'll be fine.

Rent "Vegas Vacation." You'll get all the information you need on being a minor in Vegas.

Haha I've seen this movie a couple times. I was actually thinking about it when I made this thread. That'd be such a great, but at the same time such a terrible feeling if I won a car....or a huge jackpot. Has anything like this ever made the news? I'm sure at one time or another a minor has won big, there are minors in casinos every night...

They'll take your ID, scare you real good and tell you not to come back until you are 21. Get caught twice and they will ban you from their casino for life.
BTW...you WILL get caught.
Personal experience.

ya I was just thinking the same thing ... it aint Calgary, in the US they take that stuff a fair bit more seriously. They ID up to about 35 in Vegas, and most of the US.
I wouldn't risk it as it could turn into something where you can't get back into the US very easily. Drink in the room, watch everyone else gamble.
