Hard to say. We're now in the prime area of Eli's worst games of the season a.k.a. the games that actually count. He has been horrible in the month of December during his career.

Well that and the fact Shockey is now out for the rest of the year, Burress is still gimpy, Toomer is just Toomer(see his hideous drop last night while being wide open).
I WANT this team to slip.....Just so it's easier for my Vikings to squeak into the playoffs after a horrible start.
But hopefully Kyle Orton plays the same as he did the last time he faced the Vikings (6-14 for 59 yards). But with the Vikes D being last against the pass, that's kind of hard to beleive.

Well part of the Vikings pass defence being last is that they have proven to be very tough to run against. The past few years the Chiefs had a seemingly good run defence not allowing 100 yard rusher's and low game totals. Fact was their pass defence was so bad that teams just threw against them because it was so easy. If they'd wanted to they could have ran all over them too! I think the Vikings at least have a good run defence and their pass defence is better than where it ranks. They just get a lot of work.

Something else I think the national media is overlooking right now is the play of Drew Brees. After an 0-4 start where he threw 1 TD to 9 INT's, in the 10 games since then Brees has gone 266/373 for 2890 yards, 24 TDs and 6 INTs. Considering how much Brees has had to throw it this year, that TD to INT ratio is incredible. If not for that slow start(and probably the Saints average record), Brees would be a candidate for league MVP again(although no one's gonna pass Brady this year, and deservedly so)
BTW in the same span Colston has had 65 receptions for 876 yards and 8 TDs, which over a whole season projects to 104 receptions for 1,402 yards and 13 TDs.

I think there is a good chance the Giants lose their last two, at Buffalo and vs. New England. Shockey is out, Burress is not 100% and Manning seems to struggle in the late part of the season (understatement). If they lose out, and NO wins out, they're in.
Saints just have to take care of business.

Philly beat MIN in Week 8 to win the tie breaker & Panthers still have a chance
MIN 8-6
CAR 6-8
If MIN losses both and CAR wins both that makes them both 8-8 so then the tiebreaker would kick in and they haven't played each other so it would go down to win/loss record in their own conference.
MIN 6-6
CAR 8-4
If that scenario played out...isn't that correct or what am I missing? I am not 100% sure of the tiebreaker rules.
Even if WAS went to 8-8 their best conference record could be 6-6; If NO finished 8-8 they would finsihs with a conference record of 7-6

Not true.
Dallas can still win one and lose the conference if they lose the other and GB wins both their remaining games.

It seems to me that Dal needs a win AND a GB loss, not OR as per above.

Thank you! Like I said I was tired but not sleepy tired....and was sitting up bored and was curious what it would look like.
What about Carolina? Are they done? From the tiebreaker rules I read they still have a shot...a long one...but a shot.

To be honest at the start of the year I saw that Giants team as one of the worst in the league. I really can't call them a dissapointment because if anything the media just built them up to be more then they are. Can't blame Eli for sundays loss, the Giants just couldn't catch anything.
I've heard some conflicting reports about the Patriots and there stance on if they plan to play there starters these next two weeks for a good chunk of the game. I've already got them going 16-0, there's just a small part of me that hopes Brady doesen't beat Peytons touchdown record, but with the kind've season he's having with the amount of int's thrown, he does deserve it.

Allegedly Carolina and the Eagles are sill in it....although both need ALOT of help for them to make the playoffs.
Analysis of next week's games:
WAS @ MIN : Whoever wins this game holds the tiebreaker against the other team. So if the Vikings win, the Redskins are out. If the Redskins win, they would bump the Vikings out of the wildcard spot.
PHI @ NO: If the Eagles win, their hopes are still alive (barely). Eagles lose, they are out of it. Saints lose plus a Vikings win eliminates the Saints.
DAL @ CAR: A loss here eliminated the Panthers.
NYG @ BUF: A win clinches a wild card spot for the Giants. A loss makes everything much tighter in the wild card race.

See thats what I thought. The only team they can catch is MIN who are 8-6. If MIN lost both games and PHI won both games they would have a tied record of 8-8 each. But in Week 8 PHI beat MIN which would give them the tiebreaker and the playoff spot.

Conference record is taken as the first tiebreaker. Philly is 4-7 vs the NFC, whereas the Vikes are 6-5.

Being decided by a coin toss would be a horrible way to have your playoff hopes smashed!
Anyone know what is the furthest they have ever had to use in a tiebreaker?
