Ohh this thread is fun. I totally agree about the kids with those roller shoes. Perhaps I'm just jealous that I didn't have anything that cool when I was their age. Although Pogo balls were pretty sweet.

Anyhow, my biggest pet peeve is PHANTOM cars!! You know, the ones without daytime driving lights. Grrrr they really get me going- I can't stand them.

OK, a couple of tips when dealing with Bell:

- When you do get a human on the phone, tell them that the phone call is being recorded for your records. (Doesn't matter that it isn't.) Then ask them to tell you their name and identification number.

- If that doesn't get you the credit you need on the next bill, call back. Once again tell them the call is being recorded, and ask for their legal address. Odds are they will ask why, and you can then explain that you will be charging them a late fee, and you want to know where to submit the demand letter. Explain that they have 14 days from that point on to apply your credit, or you will be issuing late fees.

Since using the above methods I haven't had a problem getting my credits applied.

This thread was/is awesome. I remember all these things I was whining about... I was in Rome at the time and likely drunk...

Anyway, I was going to complain about driving (again). This time my pet peeve are people that don't left signal when stopped at a light.
More clearly, when a one lane road intersects with a much larger road, there tends to be a couple cars waiting to get through. So the light turns green and THEN the guy in front of you signals that he's turning left. Now you're stuck behind him while everyone else is going around him.
You didn't pull up beside him because if he IS going straight through, you have to merge back in a look like a tool, or else race him and look like a tool.

Another pet peeve is Revenue Canada. They're soooo annoying.

Or when Cherry says something of note(it happens the odd rare time) my dad will agree and sit there and tell me why for the next two mins, until I've missed the rest of Coach's Corner.

He was the same way when I'd be on the phone when I was still at home. I'd be in the middle of a convo, and he'd just walk in and start talking to me as if I was just sitting there doing nothing. Or when I'm watching TV he'll do the same thing and start chatting me up...he seemed to pick the moments when it was the big climax of the show, or some big interview I was really into...good times.

this thread rules, but it's gotten me all riled up. I've compiled a list of my own and stolen some from others. Turns out I hate people. Here we go!

- people who won't wait for a whistle to go to their seats at the game. If you can't figure out that it's disrespectful and annoying, then you probably do the rest of the things on this list.

- People who leave unwanted items all over the grocery store. If you work at a grocery store, you're day probably sucked. Having to restock the unwanted crap of self-righteous tools isn't going to help.

- Movie Talkers. You ruined 300 for me. Also, If you brought a baby to episode 3 of the star wars series and did nothing while your little ****-machine screamed through the scene where we finally get to see Darth Vader, you blow. I don't particularly care for star wars, but that scene was kind of important.

- Improper merging. This is a two-parter. If you stop at the front of a merge lane when merging, I hate you. If you are driving in a lane and somebody is trying to merge into your lane and you speed up, preventing them from merging properly, I hate you more.

- Non-signalers/non-shoulder-checkers. If you haven't grasped the concept of flipping a switch or turning your head you probably shouldn't be driving.

- People who post of message boards and don't title their threads in a descriptive manner. Never is there a need to title a thread "OMG" or "guess what?"

- Extremely lazy typing. lol. omg. these are acceptable to me. Using "u" for "you" or "h8" for "hate" just makes you look inbred.

- The people who sit in front of me at flames games and leave with 5 -7 minutes remaining EVERY GAME. Blowout or tied. Columbus or Pittsburgh. It doesn't matter, they leave every single time. I hope to all that is mighty one of you is reading this post so that you may know this: I hate you.

- People who use the phrase "no offence but . . . " You're a jackass, don't try and make yourself feel better by adding this phrase to your hurtful or ignorant comments.

- People who use the phrase "too much information". Can't actually explain this one, I just react oddly to it. I get the intense desire to take whatever i'm saying that has bothered the person right up to the next level.

- The Future Shop ad where the guy sings the song about his girlfriend. Rarely does an ad actually convince me to shop elsewhere.

- People who claim homosexuality is a choice. I realize this is more of a hot button issue and opens up a can of worms. If you disagree with me here let's just agree to disagree. Let's also agree that I can't stand you.

- Telemarketers – I just hang up; they don’t even get a word out of me
- Rude cell-phone users – If you’re going to put the Bohemian national anthem on your cell phone, have the decency to turn it off on put it onto vibrate in a restaurant, the movie theatre and everywhere else I happen to be. The other day this guy lets his phone play some stupid song that can be heard into the washroom and he ignores it – then it happens again. I felt like smacking him.
- People who when they talk on their cell phone feel they have to shout.
- People who hog the escalator and won’t move to the right and allow me to pass you.
- A-holes who talk on the phone when they’re driving and stop paying attention.
- People who carry on conversations in a movie theatre. I recently kicked the seat in front of me to express my extreme displeasure to a couple of giggly teenaged girls; the message was received.
- Sorry, guys, but I hate it when Calgarians hate everything about Edmonton. We’ve had way more sports success – get over it. And I hate it when their comeback if, “yeah, but what have you won lately?”
- Car drivers who think I’m an idiot because I ride a motorcycle and scuba dive. It is possible to do those things conservatively.
- Kids on those “heelies” or whatever those annoying shoes with the skates in them are called. While I’m at it, people who go out in public wearing pajamas.
- People who don’t know how to spell. Did they sleep through their classes? And try using proper grammar.
- Drivers who don’t know how to drive traffic circles and four-way stops. It’s not hard!
- People who don’t think I’m intolerant. Just because I think most people are idiots doesn’t make me intolerant.

Ah, the good ol' pet peeve thread!

- I also hate the Telus automated attendant. I have a voice that varies between bass growly and tenor clear, and that stupid thing never seems to understand me. I'll say "managed services" and that perky %#@! computer will say, "Sounds like you want to pay your bill - is that correct?" - "NO!!!" I say, then we go back thru the same rigamarole about 10 times until I start screaming, "MOTHERF****** MANAGED GOD-D*** SERVICES YOU WORTHLESS PIECE OF **** ******!!!!!"

I never yell at the reps, though - I find you do a lot better by being friendly and chatty. That computer? Bite me.

- Cell phones ringing, and especially people that leave theirs on their desks and go off to do something while it rings and rings and rings and rings. A couple times I've picked up a co-worker's phone and said, "No, he's not here, which is why he didn't pick up the first three times you called." The gov't should legislate so that no phones can be sold with ringers AT ALL anymore - vibrate is the way, the truth and the light.

- Women with low-ridin' sweats/jeans that show their high-ridin' panties. I'm all for sleazy wimmenfolk, but that just looks like they are stupid, not sexy.

- Bike couriers. I saw one guy, I kid you not, ride across all the lanes without signalling while going the wrong way down a one-way street and then thru a red light as he turned onto the opposite sidewalk and off on his merry way. What's that, four tickets in about 10 seconds? Hey, I know you make more money the more stuff you get delivered, but that doesn't make you immune to the traffic laws.

- The people who left the game last night with 3 minutes left when it was tied 2-2. WTF? It's like ordering a steak dinner and leaving the steak. Who does that? And why?

- Screaming children on an airplane. Children belong on the Greyhound along with the hobos. Then, when they yell, the hobos can bean them with a bindlestiff, silencing them effectively and doing society a favour.

- Smug vegetarians. Waitresses that don't grasp the concept of multi-tasking. Born-again Christian mouthrunners. "I kan't spel" doods who are proud of their illiteracy. People who watch reality tv shows and think I care. Snobs. People that laugh like this - "heh heh heh". People who don't think monkeys rule. People who take their money out AFTER they get to the front of the line, and spend 5 minutes putting the pennies and nickels and dimes and quarters into separate compartments. Smokers. Bratty kids. People who use their debit cards to buy a frickin' slurpee. P-zombies. People who will ask what p-zombies are when they already have access to Google. Jimmyhats. Women who aren't redheads and should be. People that make long lists of their pet peeves. Adam Sandler. Sappy Disney movies. The word "bling". Creationists. "Punk" bands that are about as anarchistic as GW Bush. Celebrities. Dill pickle chips. AND FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT'S GOOD AND TRUE, NO-MORE-BAD-MOVIE-SEQUELS!!!!

People who take 50 or so lotto 649 tickets into a 7-11 on a Saturday afternoon and have the clerk check them all. Then they win $10, and hum and ha about which scratch tickets they should get. Meanwhile the line behind them piles up with people holding coffees and slurpees, and kids etc. Go to a frickin lotto center, or do it at 4 am.

Also, when I forget to put change in my pocket in the morning. Twice this week at stores I had totals of $5.11 and $10.06 and alls I had were bills. Frig, so that is like almost $10 in change I now have. Mad at myself for that one.

I hate it when your change is $X.24 and they actually give you the 24 cents instead of a quarter.

People need to be aware of their surroundings, but if you're not, be prepared for an elbow or to be knocked out of the way.

Oh God, I hate those people! Any time anyone buys/checks either a lotto ticket or a pack of cigs in front of me, I groan. For some reason either of those purchases adds another 2-3 mins to the transaction. Yesterday at the 7/11 some guy in front of me got a pack of smokes and TEN different lotto tickets...and all I was buyin was a single bag of Ichiban. Unreal...

People who wait for the waitress to come to the table before they start contemplating what they want. You know that person. Your good friend's new guy/gal. You sorta noticed that they took nary a glance at the menu/drink list. You think to yourself "gee, that person sure is decisive. Already knowing what to order without even looking".

Not so.

Waitress arrives (cute as hell to boot), starts asking what people will have and the one dumdum reaches for the menu.

If its for a survey, the trick is to ask them right off the bat if theyll pay you for it. It usually throws them off and is a way to get off the phone easily without them begging for you to consider. I learnt that one from my uncle...and one time they actually DID pay him, sent him a $20 cheque. Worth a shot...or you can just be a dick and do what my buddy does. He says "Sure, hold on one second", and then never comes back to the phone. He'll keep checkin it every five mins or so to see if buddy is still on the other line waiting. One time one guy held on for almost 20 mins, now thats persistence!

Is it just me, or are the average movie theatre crowds getting worse? I dont remember it being like this even 5 or 6 years ago. I end up with a brutal, chatty/kicking seat/forgot to turn off cellphone/laughing WAY too loud and often-type crowd more often than not, its brutal.

I've lived in Edmonton for over 2 years now for school, and I seriously can't believe how much they hate Calgary, its way worse than it is in Calgary towards Edmonton. Even on the radio I hear DJ's trashin Calgary, and its not just about sports either. There really is a severe hatred for Calgary in this city, it's quite interesting.

Also, as far as the "yeah what have you won lately" bit, I've been guilty of saying this. But only because the Oilers fans I come across are so quick to throw in the "Whos won more Cups?" line. Its almost instant, as if its supposed to end the convo and Im supposed to concede defeat at the mere mention of it. For eg. them: "Hey, Flames SUCK!", me: "Whatever, how about...", them(cuts me off):"Who's won more Cups?!!". You just can't help but reply with that. It's a vicious circle.

Um, you're kidding, right. It's not even close; the hatred in Calgary is way worse than in Edmonton. You can't be serious. I challenge you to keep an eye on the posts on this site derogatory toward the Oilers and Edmonton as a city. I guarantee you that there will be wayyyyyy more of those than toward Calgary on several sites combined. Guaranteed. I've been watching. Flames fans think Lowe is an idiot, fine, but I've seen a dozen pages of threads over one day on a Lowe-bashing thread; we think Keenan is an idiot but you may see a post on that every few days. If there was ever a murder on Whyte Avenue, I totally expect to see 10 pages of Edmonton hatred in a few hours. There could be a multiple murder in Calgary and it might not even be a thread on oilerfans.com. Nope, you're wrong.

And, btw, I love Calgary. It's a nice city and I wouldn't mind living there. There are lots of people like me up here. There are Calgary haters, sure, but Edmonton hating seems to be a way of life down there.

But, I'm off topic. Another pet peeve is litter bugs. The world isn't your garbage can.

I disagree. You're just not noticing it up here that way because you're an Oilers fan. Ok maybe it has gotten worse since I left, as I havent lived in Calgary since a month after our '04 playoff run ended. I'd imagine the resurgeance of the Oilers in '06 has led the rivalry to heat up. Fair enough, maybe its closer to the same level now. But I fail to believe its actually worse in Calgary than it is up here. Plus, you're just refering to the hockey message boards, where of course there's a rivalry. I'm talking about the attitude of the city as a whole. Its not even just sports fans. I hear female DJ's on Sonic bashin Calgary alot even. Haha I have Flames and Stamps stickers on my car and I swear to God people don't let me in when I drive it near as much as they do when Im drivin the girl's car, I definitely notice the difference. It's seriously a battle in my car.
