LOL! I've always wondered what flashing the lights or your highbeams does...is it a special signal?

The meaning is slightly different depending on the circumstances.
It can mean to 'move over and get out of my way' to a slower vehicle in the fast lane of a freeway. In Germany, if you are on a fast Autobahn and miss the flash, you are likely to get plowed into by an exotic sports car going 200+ mph!
It can mean that 'you are free to enter this line of traffic in front of me'. I often use a 2 flash signal to inform the driver wanting to merge into my lane of traffic that I am letting him come in. The vast majority of drivers seem to understand the signal used this way.
It can also mean 'You $%^&$^#&! I can't believe you just did that!'
Anyone know any other uses for the headlight flash?

Then about 15 minutes later, I see a guy in a black jeep hit a parked car in the Safeway parking lot, then he reverses and hits another car behind him, THEN he goes forward again and nails that same car he hit in the first place. Then on my way home to Tuscany, another ######bag tries to change lanes from the right to left but didn't see that a car was there in the next lane. THUD. The car beside him that he hit......you guessed it, a cop car! Cop pulled him over, I wish I was there to see what the cop said. Oh and on my way from Safeway to the gas station there was a fender bender I guess that happened previously as 2 teenagers were yelling at each other with damaged cars outside the gas station (one bumper damaged and the back of the other car really damaged). Weird day. Was just really mad at the guy who was going probably like 100 K and never stopped at the stop sign.

How come you only mention the vehicle color when it's black?

I am thinking about putting a video camera in my truck so when I drive I can catch these idiots driving and send a copy to the local police with their licence plate in the video. Maybe we should start a shame thread on cp where we can post videos of these idiots.

The best is when a company truck or something like that cuts you off, with the phone # printed in big numbers across the side or back. Happened to me when I was with a couple buddies on MacLeod Tr one time, it was a pretty vicious cut-off, I almost had to swerve into another car. My buddy called him up and asked him if he was on the road right now. He said ya, and then my buddy just lit into him haha, it was hilarious. You could see him lookin around in the truck tryin to figure out which car was callin him. My buddy saved his # in his phone and over the next couple months whenever we had a few beers in us my buddy would call and prank him, it was good stuff. That'll learn em!

In Calgary everyone's going like 40km over the speed limit, ridin your ass like crazy, whipping in front of you, etc. Its pretty scary sometimes. But in Edmonton most people drive pretty slow, probably because of the ridiculously low speed limits they have here, and the ridiculously high enforcement they have for them(for example, for the first six years I had my license, living in both Calgary and Vancouver, I had two speeding tickets. In the last two years living in Edmonton, I have four. And I seriously am not some crazy driver either. You even go 10 over and you're gonna get busted. I got a photo radar ticket in St. Albert going 58 in a 50 driving by a school at 10pm, on a weekday! What the hell was he even doing there at that time?!?).
Anyways, people seem more defensive here, almost too defensive. I get guys like cutting me off and then immediately slamming on their breaks. This one time I had a guy slam on his breaks on St. Albert Trail(speed limit 70km/h, so almost the equivalent of just nailing on your breaks on MacLeod Trail) on a green light, because he wanted to turn left and didnt realize there was a big sign that said you cant turn left. I was shaking after that one. So theyre not as aggressive up here as they are in Calgary, just dumb and way too defensive. My gf told me a couple months ago Edmonton was picked by some magazine as having the worst drivers in Canada, Im not surprised. You really gotta watch out for people deciding to slam on their breaks in the middle of the road everywhere, I see it all the time
|
Ahh yes, the speed natzis of st.albert. You can't go 2 km/h over in that town without getting a ticket. Even if you have no defense and fully intend on paying the ticket go to court as it cost the government more than they will get from the ticket.

When I worked for the EUB a co-worker was cut off and swore at by some guy (called her a ing bitch) driving a company truck. She called the number on the truck and explained what happened. The owner said, I am really sorry mam, that is the last straw with that guy, as soon as he gets back to the office we are going to fire him. Then she felt really bad for the rest of the week.
