Agreed. I live in the 'chuk now and man is it dangerous! But its a different kind of dangerous up here than it is in Calgary. In Calgary everyone's going like 40km over the speed limit, ridin your ass like crazy, whipping in front of you, etc. Its pretty scary sometimes. But in Edmonton most people drive pretty slow, probably because of the ridiculously low speed limits they have here, and the ridiculously high enforcement they have for them(for example, for the first six years I had my license, living in both Calgary and Vancouver, I had two speeding tickets. In the last two years living in Edmonton, I have four. And I seriously am not some crazy driver either. You even go 10 over and you're gonna get busted. I got a photo radar ticket in St. Albert going 58 in a 50 driving by a school at 10pm, on a weekday! What the hell was he even doing there at that time?!?).
Anyways, people seem more defensive here, almost too defensive. I get guys like cutting me off and then immediately slamming on their breaks. This one time I had a guy slam on his breaks on St. Albert Trail(speed limit 70km/h, so almost the equivalent of just nailing on your breaks on MacLeod Trail) on a green light, because he wanted to turn left and didnt realize there was a big sign that said you cant turn left. I was shaking after that one. So theyre not as aggressive up here as they are in Calgary, just dumb and way too defensive. My gf told me a couple months ago Edmonton was picked by some magazine as having the worst drivers in Canada, Im not surprised. You really gotta watch out for people deciding to slam on their breaks in the middle of the road everywhere, I see it all the time

Nope. Because not only was my lane about to end in about 500 metres, his lane would also end another 300 meters after that. So I was on his right, and we all eventually had to start getting to our left.

My bad. I drive that section of road often enough, or at least I did when I lived in Queensland. Lucky for you he didn't come all the way over.

Most people are bad drivers. Everywhere. And traffic laws are set up to keep us safe from the lowest-common-denomintor-######-texting-and-putting-on-makeup-inattentive-prick.
Not to sound like an arrogant prick, but if everyone drove like me, we could go 140kmph on the highways no problem. If it's safe for some of the bluehairs out there to do 100 on the Deerfoot, I should be able to do roughly 200 and be just as safe.

Seriously, it will be a good day when some laws are enacted that punish people for texting while driving.

I hate the Deerfoot 500 that seems to start up around 1:00am most nights.
Comming home from hockey monday night. 2 guys racing up behind me, use me as some kinda 120km/h pilon. The guy in the lane behind me can't pass his buddy.. and Locks up his breaks... smoke and all right on my bumper behind me.. when I'm doing 120 on Deerfoot.. WTF...
Obvisouly the guy who passed me was a MUCH better driver, by his amazing display of skill...

I wish the cops would take all of the photo radar cameras one night, line them up Deerfoot, and nail people such as those with a dozen speeding fines at once.

Edmonton easily has the worst drivers in Canada. Easily.
Calgary, I just hate driving there. Road rage at its finest.

Then about 15 minutes later, I see a guy in a black jeep hit a parked car in the Safeway parking lot, then he reverses and hits another car behind him, THEN he goes forward again and nails that same car he hit in the first place. Then on my way home to Tuscany, another ######bag tries to change lanes from the right to left but didn't see that a car was there in the next lane. THUD. The car beside him that he hit......you guessed it, a cop car! Cop pulled him over, I wish I was there to see what the cop said. Oh and on my way from Safeway to the gas station there was a fender bender I guess that happened previously as 2 teenagers were yelling at each other with damaged cars outside the gas station (one bumper damaged and the back of the other car really damaged). Weird day. Was just really mad at the guy who was going probably like 100 K and never stopped at the stop sign.

The problem with the drivers here is that we have too many people moving here from Edmonton, PEI, Saskatchewan...and pretty much every other rural area in the country. That's why we have a lot of red necked, mullet wearing country boy drivers.
Seriously though, my biggest pet peeve about driving in this city is the lack of patience. Everyone is always in a hurry and pissed off about the heavy traffic. Get used to it people.

LOL, that's priceless and applies to much more than just driving.
