Default Man, what is up with drivers in this city???

Do people here not know how to drive? I was driving around Crowfoot just an hour ago or so, and come to a four way stop. ######bag in a black car doesn't even stop at the four way stop and nearly rams into me and another car (I was stopped but he swerved onto my section of the road). Then about 15 minutes later, I see a guy in a black jeep hit a parked car in the Safeway parking lot, then he reverses and hits another car behind him, THEN he goes forward again and nails that same car he hit in the first place. Then on my way home to Tuscany, another ######bag tries to change lanes from the right to left but didn't see that a car was there in the next lane. THUD. The car beside him that he hit......you guessed it, a cop car! Cop pulled him over, I wish I was there to see what the cop said. Oh and on my way from Safeway to the gas station there was a fender bender I guess that happened previously as 2 teenagers were yelling at each other with damaged cars outside the gas station (one bumper damaged and the back of the other car really damaged). Weird day. Was just really mad at the guy who was going probably like 100 K and never stopped at the stop sign.

Defensive driving is a must in Calgary!

Always expect the other driver to do the unexpected.

Did you stop to be a witness to the collisions you saw happen?

Ugh

I went to put my sandbags in my pickup, and the bag has rotted. It ripped open as soon as i tried to pick it up.

A lot of people have moved here from Edmonton recently.

Since I live and work downtown I get to avoid the morning/evening commute madness, and instead just enjoy watching it as I walk with my headphones on. I think it boils down to exactly what I just said: the commute. Everyone wants to get home, there's a shyteload of construction going on everwhere. It's a mad, impatient panic.

Of course, as others have mentioned, there are a dangerous number of boneheads in vehicles as well. It's like adding a drop of a volatile chemical to an already bubbling solution... BANG!

It's not only this city. I lived in Edmonton from 2001-2007 and that city has so many bad drivers as well. I can give leeway on bad conditions etc, but it just pisses me off that you have idiots who go like 100 Km/hr through stop signs. December 4 will mark one year since I lost my gf due to a drunk driver. I guess ever since then i've had a spot in my heart (more so then before) where I can't stand idiotic drivers. I guess seeing all these incidents reminds me of people I have lost and i'm bitching because I don't want anyone else to get killed. That car goes through a stop sign and if it did hit that other car beside me then atleast 2 people are dead. That's why i'm bitching. I don't care about bad drivers, but I do care about the ones they hit and as a result injure or kill.

Haha thank god for my friday off tommorow.. Honestly thats the single most aggrevating day of the year.. I can't believe how many brake tapping morons forget the basics and justify doing 70km/h down deerfoot..

And on the topic of drivers here in general.. It appears that the influx of people to Calgary in recent years has attracted a lot of stunned morons. I drive fast and what I consider efficiently, and I am always amazed at how many people don't understand that concept. They just plodd along unaware of they're surroundings completely oblivious to the idea of traffic flow. I never feel even slightly guilty about cutting off a person who is incapable of making a pass within 5 kms stretch on deerfoot.. Hell I do it almost daily on my commute home..

Thats brutal and I totally know where your coming from.. My close friend was killed in a hit and run in august.. Stolen car driven by likely crackheads that will somehow evade justice, and if they are ever caught will never get a decent jail sentence for essentially murdering someone..

#$@% that. I'm all about offensive driving. If you take offense to my driving, it's because you suck at it.

OK, my story from tonight. Going north on Bow Bottom trail, and I'm going around the bend where Anderson joins up and the 4 lanes merge onto Deerfoot/Southland exit. I'm in the far right lane and there's a van beside me to my left. He starts to creep into my lane, I back off the gas a bit. He comes right into my lane (both tires over the dotted line) so I give a quick beep of my horn- maybe he doesn't see me or something.

He lays on his horn, I just punch it to get from beside him, and then he start honking and flashing his lights like he's sending me a Morse Code signal or something.

What exactly am I supposed to do when somebody is drifting into my lane, on a curve, in tight traffic, and I have a concrete barrier beside me?

I wonder if that driver was looking to change lanes but forgot what a signal light was.
