When I was living in Australia in the late 90's. It was an unseasonable cool summer for the area I was in. The media got all over it blaming it on pollution. One old farmer said to me. "They say it is the coldest January (middle of Summer for Australia) since 1889" (can't remember the exact year, but it was the late 1800's). "What the hell happened in 1889?".

My family has had a cottage on Lake Huron in Georgian Bay since before I was born. In the late 70's I could remember the waterline at different times either leaving no beach or a small beach that was maybe 10'.

These days the waterline is so low that there is a 20' to 25' beach that's bigger then I can ever remember when I was growing up. However, I also remember when I was growing up how the waterline before I was born was so low that the beach would have been close to 30'.

Global warming? Riiight. I had to wear a jacket this morning! Stupid science. Stupid Al Gore. What do they know? Nothing! As an arm chair scientist I know more about climate change by simple unfocused observation and anecdotal evidence than those so called "scientists." Quacks, I say! I don't need to actually have a good understanding of the issue at all before I can dismiss it. No, I'll just listen to fictional dinosaur authors instead of reading a credible book.

too intelligent??? lol just look at the world today...if intelligent requires logic, than we arent intelligent all all, far from it....we are obv the most intelligent species on the planet, but that still doesnt mean we are intelligent enough to stop nature, not even close, we dont even understand 1% of nature....

That's the thing, though, (and I don't mean to type this as the start of another big climate change debate,) it's not just a scientist and Al Gore telling us this is going to happen, or already is. This is many, respectable scientists belonging to some of the top agencies in the world, that spend all day researching and gathering evidence to support the notion. Al Gore, although his intentions were good, just decided to take the initiative and bring it into the public spotlight by doing so through the same medium as most of our news come from: by hypersensationalizing one thing and completely overlooking another.

The AAAS, NASA and even the Pentagon have all published research supporting the theory, and at this point, the evidence supporting that this is happening greatly outrules the evidence that it's not, and these are government agencies that have been able to track weather patterns on other planets, not just our own. I mean hell, congress didn't even demand this much assurance when they voted to enter Iraq, and just look how much money they're spending over there.

"Global warming," "Global cooling,"... don't they both go hand in hand with each other when describing climate change?

First of all, that's not true, and secondly, even if it were, so what? "They" were wrong before, so "they" must be wrong now?

I'm curious, do you hold other scientific disciplines in such contempt?

Its no suprise that hurricans are more common and more powerful, since they started recording hurrican strenghts in the 50's a cat4-5 formed every 5.7 years up to year 1990, from 1990-2000 once every 2.2 years and now each year theres at least 2. even the pacific is getting far more tropical cyclones than ever before.

What about glaciers? the movements of glaciers has been recorded for hundreds of years and since 1980 most glaciers have receded 100 times more than the previous 25 years.

I personally have a hard time believing that humans had no part in these types of things happening and it just part of a normal trend that the planet goes threw every few thousand years.
Well, if you take into consideration that the Earth's been around for like a billion or so years, then a couple hundred years as a sample really isn't that big of a sample size. That's like a 0.00001% sample size.

Relax Francis. I was just poking fun at you. Frankly, I don't think you work for Big Oil. You are probably more likely to work with small oil, the variety that comes from corn or canola and goes into a fryer.
