Not that you need another reason to brew beer at home, but the 5 gallon carboys work great for storing up water from the tap... you know, in case you run out of beer first.

Should be but you don't need Deerfoot. Take Barlow Trail north to Country Hills Blvd. Then either go right to Metis Trail and then north to Stoney Trail. Or go left to Centre Street/Harvest Hill Blvd and go north to Stoney Trail.

I see no reason why that stretch of road would be closed. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Deerfoot closed in a couple of hours. Probably just waiting for it to clear and/or people to get out of downtown.

Maybe even no midway, just the rodeo and chuckwagons.
No chance the Saddledome is ready for concerts, maybe they move them to McMahon

Kind of like the original Stampede?!?
New slogan for 2013: The Calgary Stampede -- 100 years and holding.

If anyone is trying to get from SW to NW I sent my wife along 17th avenue to 85th street, to old banff coach road to TransCanada HWY, to Stoney Trail awhile back and it worked well for her.

The big cats from the Calgary Zoo are being taken to the courthouse holding cells. Just said on CBC.

Am I? The MTA isn't exactly awash in money, but when the subway system was shut down by flooding they went to work to have it operational and with a few exceptions succeeded in opening up 100% flooded tunnels in a matter of days, and that was salt water corroding electrical lines. Some parts are still being repaired, but I don't see any reason right now to assume that Calgary can't recover in a matter of 2 weeks, at least with respect to most things. I mean the majority of the Stampede is essentially tents in a parking lot anyways, not exactly high tech setups.

Drop In Centre operations have been moved to Edmonton Trail/McKnight.
They were tweeting earlier about needing food, water and supplies due to having to evacuate the downtown location hastily and the demand at this time.

The South Sask through Med Hat will flow about half the volume of the Mississippi at Baton Rouge. That is insane to think about.
