It was the first step in a series of compounding errors. (we've seen how damaging compounding errors can be around these parts too)

Pettersson turning into a pumpkin didn't help. It's a big blow when you think you have an elite first line center and he turns into what he is now which is a 2nd line center that's not hard to play against.

That would have been alleviated some by not making the bone headed decision to trade a 25 year old Horvat for magic beans. Having a 1-2 punch like that up the middle helps both players achieve more IMO by sharing the heavy lifting.
I'm glad the nucks are dummmmmm

Plus, Buium has slowed down a lot since getting there. 2 points in his first game. Two assists since, despite being give 67% offensive zone starts (highest on the team). And he's been a giveaway machine.
Rossi has two points total for the Canucks. His possession stats are among the worst on the team. I think Bahl was a better pickup than him impact wise as far as getting a youngish player in a trade.

Hopefully we win the lottery, because I don't think we are going to out suck the Canucks. Even if we traded Andersson, Coleman and Kadri.

So what's the consensus on JT Miller? Was he a good addition to VAN?
The Canucks got him for a 1st+ 3rd.
He turned into a star, that was making peanuts for 4 seasons.
He pushed Horvat out of town, whom they flipped for Hronek.
He played mind games with Pettersson, whose play never recovered.
They got Chytil + 1st back for Miller.

Even if the Flames outsuck everyone they will still have to win the lottery with best odds being 1 in 4.

There’s a pretty big difference between a turn of phrase (which I tried to show sympathy for) and telling someone to go #### themselves. FYI I will still be using “blind” as an expression but I’ll try to not mention it around you so you don’t get upset again.

while you could put this mostly in the 'more stuff' category I believe the return also includes Misa and Jamieson (trade down of the initial Canucks pick)

Co-worker at work is a Canucks fan and pointed out last place team technically gets there 33rd pick bumped to 32nd due to Ottawa's forfeited pick. Not a big difference from 33 to 32 but technically it's a first rounder?

It's still a 2nd round pick, 32nd overall. Even a Nucks fan should be able to figure that out.

Also a different GM...if we are going back that far though the Canucks gave us a 1st for Lindholm and then lost him for nothing more recently than that so IDK. Some people are pretty selective when trying to make a narrative fit.

Also, while it obviously wasn't a youth-driven return for Tkachuk, we did acquire Potter in the deal. Maybe he'll turn that trade around, who knows?

Dreger saying on insider trading the Canucks will start to listen on Pettersson. They have not approached the agent on anything but are listening to offers and open to moving him

Horvat was a 27 year old UFA who was scoring at an unsustainable rate on a team not making the playoffs. Trading him wasn't a bad move. The problem is that the Canucks had no defense and without Hronek that defense is easily the worst in the NHL.
The bigger problem was trading a first for Marcus Pettersson when the team wasn't anywhere near being a playoff team let alone a contender.
But yes they are dumb..
