Or perhaps, similarly to coaching changes, can core player trades create a temporary bump in play?

Having a guy on your team you know doesn't want to be there isn't good for the dressing room.
Atleast with Andersson it's a money issue and he doesn't look like he's checked out.

Yeah, the Andersson issue sucks. I like him, but his career trajectory and our competitive trajectory just dont match.
He wants money and term and to win, and you cant blame him for that, he's just not going to get any of that here.

Andersson is playing his best hockey in years. Likely to attract offers from the teams he wants to go to and because he's in a contract year. Having a flop of year could result in him being a UFA getting paltry 3-4 year offers. Not what you want at 29.
