The "silly situation" I was referring to are those making up a narrative of what I said. I don't know what else to say so I'll leave it at what I already said. I haven't listened to dumb#### Adam Carolla in years but after the Kirk shooting he earnestly stated that the problem is people comparing Trump to Hitler and calling him a fascist. He says the root of the problem is people bringing up Hitler parallels and that is what incites violence.
There's a reason why it's brought up, that's their playbook.

The right doesn't have any actual values. Make life miserable for anyone not me and be as ghoulish as possible tends to be what they live by. Whining about cancel culture essentially boils down to "why can't say the n word???"

The "he was unfunny anyways" comments are definitely a cover for the likely truth that they're relieved because Kimmel's lame (but mostly harmless) jokes bothered them too.
The sad part is not acknowledging the negative larger implications of all these Trump-critical personalities continuing to get picked off.
Censoring media and speech that you oppose? He absolutely was not good with that stuff. He was an outspoken advocate for the 1st amendment.
When he agreed with it. He also advocated for state suppression of liberal views and called for people to be deported or deplatformed if he didn’t like their opinions on certain topics, and created a watchlist of people he disagreed with despite them receiving threats because of it.

I'm not a big celebrety fandom type person, fawning over their latest life events etc. but I often wonder; where are these famous people, who disagree with where the US is heading, are generally wealthy, and have a voice? Yes I realize they say their piece here and there, or they post to social media, or give an interview on a show.
But what about an actual organized coming together of like minded famous people, who pledge their time and mountains of money to put something together to battle what's happening? If there's anything people love more than their phones and social media, its celebreties. Put together a celebrity funded journalism network and hire a bunch of bonefide good journalists, who report facts and stories. If a politician does something news worthy, report it; Democrat, Republican, Independant whatever. Fund in-depth investigative journalism that's real and fact checked. Place zero bias on it (which might be hard to do but one can wish for it) and publish it.
It could be strictly online to start, but I would hope eventually some TV networks would pick it up. You'd have a "TV" arm, a news website arm, etc.
I know, its a ridiculous idea to have the celebreties "save us", but their entire careers have been funded by people going to their movies, concerts, shows, sporting events, etc. etc. etc. I know many of them likely don't give any Fs as they're rich and comfortable. But again, one could hope?
I fully expect to be ridiculed for these thoughts and ideas
MAGA only believes in freedom of speech that applies to them.
The only things they've used their newfound freedoms for is to cycle misinformation and type out their intrusive racist and xenophobic thoughts for the world to read.
Western society spent decades of social progress tapering off that line of thinking as a normalized thing for good reason. We're countries of immigrants. Kids growing up learning to see their neighbors as friends and equals and not "aliens" showed that we could be more civilized and sophisticated than our past prejudices and surface level thinking.
Maga and maga adjacent using their Trump-protected freedom of speech to give socially regressive attitudes a comeback is exactly why they can't and probably shouldn't be the adults in the room calling the shots.
As well as the outright abuse of executive power since occupying the white house.
