The Bahl contract is fine. It was extremely evident how much the team missed him when he was hurt last year.

Great deal. Almost exactly what Flames fans were hoping for. So nice to see an American player signing a long deal. This is worth the gamble.

Gotta love Wolf. Late round steal who had to constantly defy expectations. Despite being American, he stays in Calgary, works hard, is great to the media, does tons of charity work, and is very loyal to the team.
Hopefully other players can follow his lead.

He likely ends up a top 3 Flames goalie of all time.

Thank you this team imploded when he went down and I'll argue and die on the hill saying this

Bahls Injury and our not playing will any balls is why this team never made the playoffs. I cannot wait to see how easily he changes people's minds when it matters.

He's so much more than people understand

I'll triple this, Brent is an absolute gem of a human being. Genuinely kind, affable and fun to be around. Meet him through a few projects along the way and got to know him outside of that, when it comes to good people he's it.

Way better than I was hoping for. I'm fine with the dollars and we got term.

Bahl's contract is either average or good. It's not bad at all.

Sharky's contract is good if we get the Sharky from 2 years ago.

Wolf's contract is already good, could be amazing within a couple years.

Bahl just has to stay healthy. That's my only concern with his contract. Moreso than the play.

Is a fun read. Overall, we all were pretty stoked to grab him at the 7th round.

Is Bahl at $5.35M that bad of a deal? Ceci just got $4.5M x 4 on the open market. A 5 year older Zadorov got $5M on the open market. It takes about 300 NHL games for a defenseman at the NHL level to figure things out. Don't take my word for it, that's what D. Sutter used to say, and Bahl has 221 games. That's why I actually expect him to tighten things up defensively, so he'll be a significantly better D in 2 years.

Now, as for Sharangovich, it really depends on which guy you're getting. I thought he looked really dangerous a year ago, and in camp last year until he got hurt. He and Coleman were amazing shorthanded. He was also one of the top scorers towards the end of the season. Moreover, he was money in the shootout a year ago when he had his confidence. If he can get back to being a 25 goal 50 point threat, then it's at least an average value.
I really like Bahl as a player. But he and Andersson struggled a bit last season playing top 4, and he doesn't put up much offensively. He is a great 5D that can move up when needed, but he is getting top 4 money. His contract won't look great when the Flames have the depth to slot him appropriately.

I am not a fan of Sharangovich. He is inconsistent, and he is a liability 5 on 5. Yes, if he can return to 2023/24 offensive numbers the contract looks okay, but he is still not a strong 5v5 player. This one was a whiff by Conroy. Sharangovich had a history of inconsistent play. Signing him to a long term deal a year before he had to was a mistake.

I appreciate these aren't terrible contracts. But if your giving term you got to get it right. 5 million extra for Huberdeau. 1 million for Bahl. 2 million for Sharangovich. That adds up to a very good player you can't afford to sign.

But value contracts like the Wolf one helps to narrow the defecit.

This has potential to be a steal of a contract. Obviously goalies are such an unpredictable position that it could also backfire but I think this is one well worth the gamble.

He is so good at breaking up plays. I don't think it's crazy to say he is best defensive defenseman on the team and his best years are still ahead of him. Even in the offensive zone, he is never going to put up a lot of points, but he uses his reach and holds the zone well so that the forwards can do their thing. He replaces a lot of what Tanev brought to the team IMO.

I have no issue with his contract. I will if he takes a step back, but given his age, I'm not worried.

I love this signing. The AAV and Term are incredible.

I dont know what else to say. If this was ~5 years ago the AAV and term would have been a bit steep for someone relatively unproven.

Right now? Conroy hit this contract so far out of the goddamned park Chris Hadfield had to be commissioned to look for it.

I dig this contract. Its refreshing to see the young guys get paid and not giving out huge contracts to the dinosaurs. Now just get your hands on a young Center and roll out.
