I see it the opposite way. I don't think Detroit is anything special at all - the only thing they have going for them is they are playing the trap and getting good goaltending.

They are paper tigers, and I doubt they make the playoffs.

Probably that poster on here who angrily called for Wolf to get called up every day last year, saying the Flames were ruining him and probably causing him to want to leave and sign elsewhere.

Can't remember the poster's name.

As far as Frost he was the opposite for me. He took longer to get comfortable, but got better as the game went on. I really liked his defensive play today. Always being there for the D, covering for them etc. Sharangovich still looks lost out there, so that didn't help things. I liked Frost skating the puck out, and as an option on PP entries. All in all I want to see more.

It was a typical DET game. Play well and press most of the game but give up way too many slot chances, with a couple of 2 on 1s sprinkled in. Onto the next one, good effort, bad stylistic match for the Flames.
 |
Exactly what I saw from Farabee and Frost.

I am curious, when you post these stats, do you ever ask yourself if they align with what you see on the ice?

Do you think Weegar is a top 10 D in the league? Do you think Pettersson is a top 20 D in the league?

Either the stat is flawed, or we are all seeing and interpreting reality poorly. Which seems more plausible?

Which brings me to the other problem tonight was our lack of skill was on show tonight. There felt like a lot of times where we had clear lane but just couldnt hit the net. We certainly got goalied by Talbot when we did, but they need to be taking the chances they generate.

I liked both Frost and Farabee and feel they will be good additions to the team once they get settled in. Adding Zary back in will help a lot as well.

Detroit do a good job of filling up the middle of the ice.

I was surprised by the 4th line stats from Bingo tonight, as it looked they generated as many chances as there were against them, but I guess not.

Oh well, you win some and lose some, onto Seattle.
 |
If the Flames get one early (who beat Talbot clean but hit the post in the 1st?), it's a different game.

If Wolf doesn't give up that late one in the 1st, it's a different game.

They should have come out of the 1st tied, or at worst, down 1.

Being down 2 allowed DET to trap for the rest of the game. And they did a good job of it.

It was post and in. Hard to blame Wolf on that one.

He lost his angle, by a large margin. So much so that a defenseman, with 4 goals on the season, walked in with his head up and easily picked the short side. He had about 2 feet to shoot at.

Coronato was the guy who hit the post in the first or second shift of the game.

It was one of those “typical road win” games for Detroit. Weather a storm, get a goal against the flow of the game, play D and counterpunch the rest of the night.

I was overall happy with the Flames’ play. The power play looked way better with the two new guys. I thought the top three lines all looked better. The 4th was trapped a lot.

I guess this is Inception. Your post hit the post about posts hitting posts. We never thought we'd get here and yet here we are....

Christ...how many times did Amonte hit the post that season? I remember it being something absurd to the point where when he hit the post he was visibly furious on the ice?
Like: "You've gotta be f###ing KIDDING me!!!"

So many that it’s still topically funny all these years later; it’s always irked me that posts have never been a kept stat by the NHL.
