I'm still pretty confident something will go down this week, based on the flurry of corresponding whispers we heard a few days ago. These things are more complex than we know and as fans who get all the information right now we tend to be very impatient, before assuming that nothing is happening because it hasn't happened yet.

As someone mentioned, it was the Sunday when the Lindholm trade came together, only for it to be finalized on the Wednesday or Thursday (can't remember). If it is the devils as we suspect, throw in the outdoor game and everything that goes with it and that adds to the delays. Patience grasshoppers, and cheers to those sharing the tidbits they do.

Probably not going to cost the kind of "pennies" you're thinking of. The player still has name value.

I have this sick feeling that we have all grossly overestimated what’s going to happen this trade deadline with our trade chips. I think below is more likely.

For Hanifin …….. BOS Geekie + Lohrei + 2025 3rd (would rather Isaac Howard + 2026 1st from TB)

For Tanev ………. DAL 2024 2nd + Gavin White (would rather 2025 2nd + Filip Johanssen from VAN)

For Markstrom ……… No Trade (Would rather Holtz + Casey + 2025 2nd from NJ)

I think it’s the other way around, he doesn’t have the talent or physical tools to go with the smarts. In lower leagues he is able to over come because of the smarts at the NHL level you need the talent and physical tools to go with the smarts.

I agree though, he has always been overhyped. I think he profiles more as a middle 6 C/LW, probably more of a 3rd liner. He will have to swallow his pride a bit for that to work though.

Need it for closure to the old ways and as a bookmark to the rebuild and next era for the team

With markstrom gone for futures, there's no turning back or "pivoting" at that point.

Plus it will be exciting to inject more young players into the line up.

I think you are most likely wrong. I get it, expect the worst so you can be pleasantly surprised and never disappointed but any of your suggestions there would be very underwhelming given the interest in all of these players.

I am not big on Wright right now either but I definitely don't think he would be PLD 2.0 nor do I think he would spend any more time in the AHL, he would be plug and play here. I don't see a deal happening between these two teams anyhow.

Out of our players rumoured on the market here is who i have heard has interest.
I have listed them as serious interest as there is a lot of smoke there, and have inquired which means I have heard those teams have touched base but I don't know how serious they are.

Markstrom:

Serious interest: New Jersey, Los Angeles, Carolina

Have inquired: Colorado, Toronto

Vladar:

Have inquired: Flyers

Hanifin:

Serious Interest: Arizona, Boston, Tampa Bay

Have Inquired: Buffalo, Dallas, Detroit, Florida, New Jersey, NYR, Toronto, Vancouver, Vegas

Tanev:

Serious Interest: Dallas, Ottawa (wtf), Toronto, Vancouver, Vegas

Have Inquired: Colorado, Edmonton (haha!), Florida, LA, New Jersey, NYR, Pitts.

I feel like a package around Kotkaniemi for Markstrom could be a good route to try to take, no retention on Markstrom and id even consider a 1 for 1 but with 3 teams pursuing I think Conroy should be able to get more here. I’m fine with the patience he’s shown!

If Hanifin would sign in ARZ, the Flames could do extremely well there. Up to Hanifin though. And ARZ is such a mess. Too bad really.

The Ottawa one on Tanev strikes as the most Canadian-market thing a Canadian-market team could do.

They’ve built this young core, and instead of making bold smart moves (like Chicago backing up the truck for Hossa, or LA spending a fortune of futures for Richards/Carter), they’ll instead over-prioritize “intangibles”. I’m not taking a shot at Tanev, but at 34 he is the wrong player to bring in at this stage via trade.

It’s such a bad idea that I actually think they will do it.m
