But only a small handful where he's willing to extend for a potential sign & trade.
Here's hoping though. There could still be some serious competitors to land his services. I think Tampa could be one. And hanifin purportedly was interested in Florida (hopefully meaning the state) long term.

If it's an unprotected first,I would strongly consider it. That's a top 10 pick for sure, maybe even top 5. Crouse is a good young player to add, imagine adding Lindstrom and Dickinson with the Flames and coyotes picks then Iginla with the devils pick (if it happens).

Could be something. Could be nothing. But Boston waiving Oskar Steen today. Will have to maximize cap space if they want to bring in Hanifin.

Tampa imo would have to swing a deal to gain the assets they would need to land Hanifin before a trade would be possible. Unless they are including their 2026 1st they really have nothing of interest currently.

I think it is made up. It is from some website that repackages CapFriendly proposals as real rumors.

There would be worse things than having another potential shot at McKenna. That kids looks elite. Not sure what else Tampa could add.

The package on capfriendly they pulled it from is actually not the worst as it also includes 4 second round picks, and Ruzicka lol.

The Flames need to mix in some 2025/2026 1sts so that they're not banking most of their rebuild on a weaker draft. If the hope is 2027 then encapsulate the whole next 3 years in the plan to accrue NHL talent.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Nothing from hockeytraderumor or thehockeywriters is worth a damn. No better than Eklund.

I'd consider that a slam dunk "W" for the Flames to get 6th Overall, Soderstrom, and Crouse for Mangiapane and Andersson.
That's turning one good asset (Andersson) who is older, one absolute bleh asset in Mangiapane into 3 very good pieces.
I'd take that trade today if it was on the table.
(the rumour doesn't appear to be real on any level...but it's good value for CGY)

I tend to agree. The first alone would be huge. Not that it’s real or anything.

ARZ want Hanifin or Andersson? They have ample great assets to move for one of them. Pony up.

Also spread out contracts so that you can have some stars on entry level contracts.

Totally agree that this should be the goal and approach. My only caveat to the above is that teams may be much more hesitant to move 1sts in future drafts that are a.) perceived to be in stronger drafts and b.) less certainty where the draft pick might land of the trading team has a bad year.
I’d for sure be pushing for a mix of 2024 and 2025 for sure, but if teams are unwilling I’ll gladly still take all 2024 picks if we have no other options

I am hearing rumblings that Shane Wright is frustrated with the way the Kraken have handled him and is looking for a change of scenery. That would be a perfect guy to take a chance on for Calgary except the price would be high for a division rival and Seattle is set on defence and does not need Markstrom.

I'd move one of the extra 1sts for Wright. Odds of impacting the NHL are equal. And you get a 200ft RHS center. Who still incredibly young. Yes please.

I'm not sold on Wright's hype either but I doubt he's the head case that PLD seems to be
