They installed metal detectors and armed school cops! What more do you want? Some sort of restriction on easily available weaponry?? Fascism?

How long before the GOP changes the definition of a mass shooting from 4 victims to 20+?

More than one a day is just a normal occurrence now

I always thought the 'Purge' series of films were a bit pointless, I mean isnt this just life in the US now? how many people can you kill in one day without rules that the US manages to kill already in 365 without appreciable gun control?

Both these stories would've been completely ignored by the press just a few years ago. Now they're international news.
I doubt gun control wouldve prevented either of them.

Why would it be ignored by the press? How is that better?

from the perspective of a teacher too. I love that job, but I absolutely couldn't do it in the US. To hear these idiots actually talking about closing door and arming teachers as possible solutions is absolutely insane.

What? 34 kids shot at a birthday party, 7 people shot at random at a park, How many mass shootings were there over the weekend anywhere else in the world?

Worst part is, you don’t even realize how ridiculous your comment is.

Anyone got anything to add to this?

Dumb argument is dumb.

I'm in favor of gun control, but I've got to admit Americans are continually making a more and more persuasive case that the people are the problem.

the problem is that even if you banned all guns tomorrow, you still couldn't prevent mass shootings being a huge problem over the next couple of decades ... simply because too many ticking timebombs have already been able to stock up. But not doing anything at all completely ####s this country for generations to come, and I don't see a way out of this for the US at this point. The general feeling in the population towards guns would have to change first, I guess. But that's not going to happen any time soon.

Fully expect those stories where people just randomly get shot at to become more frequent too. You have a part of the population that is a) indoctrinated by Fox News and other outlets that tell them that the world around them is dangerous and everybody is coming for their freedom, and b) is armed to the teeth because gun control remains a fantasy because of a number of reasons. Not a good combination.

Rifles do only count for 1% of gun deaths and a little over 2% of homicides.

I'd prefer a gun policy that removed as many guns as possible. Removing just assault rifles might cut down on mass shooting headlines, but doesn't really statistically make any one safer.

Not a mass shooting, but apparently, 2 cheerleaders got into the wrong car after either a game or a practice and the driver shot both of them...

Sounds similar to the Ralph Yarl shooting; 16 year old kid who got shot because he went to the wrong house looking for his brothers. Shooter pleaded not guilty.

Or the 20 year old Woman who got shot because she pulled into the wrong driveway.
