Lucic has not looked great whenever I have watched. Handles the puck like a grenade. Love his size and grit, and hopefully having that plus his experience helps in the playoffs. You do have to wonder if the Flames possession game would be improved not only now, but for sure in the long run, with a Pelletier call up and playing him Looch's spot.
Sure wish this was the last year of his contract. Maybe the Flames can win the cup and he'll decide to go out on top.

Yeah, but it will be pretty fun to watch them get swept again on home ice, but this time by the team coached by Todd McLellan.

Agreed on most.Bieska is about as honest as it comes.
Hrudey and I think MacLean, don't really care for Sutter personally, so that definitely comes through. Also, like Cassie, Hrudey seems to go out of the way to go to far the other way in praising other teams or players, all game, in even just the regional Flames broadcasts.
Amber rambles on like McLean does and also makes sure he gets the Sportsnet approved checklist of talking points/generalizations in. Trying hard to play up rivalries or mention ”Sutter hockey” or anything McDavid, and anything else that may create dramatic effect for TV Land.
Botteril is good but of course all panel analysts have the ability to pick out and prepare their 30seconds of defined comments and analysis for the intermission. Cassie is good in that same role as well as shown last year.

And it's funny when you hear Oilers fans accusing Cassie and Hrudey of being Flames homers. Both take every chance they get to talk about how amazing McAvi is.
I guess they're so used to over the top homer broadcasts that when they don't get it they think the crew is being homers to the other team.

That would be Elias Lindholm, with 16 goals in his last 20 games. Sutter is awesome.

I’ve said this before but Jack Michaels is AWFUL. Not sure who thought that would be a good hire. He has no sense of professionalism.

He does so because he has to, but you can see how bitter every word is that is coming out of his mouth when doing so.
Kevin Bieksa is a loser.

The Oilers don't want professional, they want "exciting". The push by the Oilers to Sportsnet to have the network do their part of retaining a Canadian star in Canada is glaring; from the commentators, to panel comments and the highlight voiceovers across all networks.
Micheals then being the day to day head cheerleader of McDavod and the Oilers, is a natural extension/justification of that.

He's perfect for Edmonton - exactly what their fanbase wants, unbridled, self-indulgent homerism.

This was the primary job requirement when the job profile was posted.

When both sides accuse you of being biased, it's probably a good indication that you're delivering a pretty balanced view. Like I said before, I'm really starting to appreciate what Cassie brings to the broadcast. I think fans need to be less defensive and just listen, she often offers great insight coming from her extensive and accomplished hockey background.
I give Bieksa a lot of credit. he was critical of the Flame a lot last year, but he was 100% correct, this team had no identity and was too easy to play against. They deserved all the criticism they got. I love that you can tell he begrudgingly recognizes just how good this team is this year.

IIRC correctly, the Flames have a pretty good record on the second of back to backs this season; anybody know where they currently stand on that?

Yep, horrible. I thought Kevin Quinn was bad with his "Conner McDaviiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid" bit but I'd take him over Monster Truck Michaels any day.

I actually really disagree. I think Lucic is sneaky good at making the small plays on the puck. He's one of our best forwards at receiving the pass from the D and absorbing contact while making a tricky breakout pass, often between his legs while being hit.
He's obviously very clunky out there, but he makes a lot of great plays that go unnoticed while also being a wrecking ball on the forecheck.
As mentioned, he caused the Lindholm goal by barreling down on Myers, causing the turnover. Keep in mind he did so after a 3 minute shift while the other 4 exhausted players were able to change.
He also twice got the puck back during that long shift being hemmed in, making the play back to the D instead of turning it over dangerously. The first time it just bounced along the boards over Gudbranson's stick, but it was the right play.

I agree this has been a strength of his this year. I think he’s had struggles in the last month or so on the breakout.
