Haven't looked too deep into it yet but it appears like Markstrom has missed games in multiple seasons due to lower body injuries. Any concern here? I haven't seen it talked about much with him but given the rumoured term running through his mid 30s it seems like a potential concern?
Hopefully someone more tune with the Nucks than myself can shine some light on this.

I think the Flames will give him a NMC to get past expansion, but may be unwilling to do that through the term. But more than that, I think it’s 6 v. 7 years.

Haha, he was so damn sure of himself and he thought he busted Pat. Perfect example of why he's so terrible.

He finished 4th in Vezina voting. That’s good. Guess what place Holtby was in the year before he won?

And literally the only reason he wasn't a finalist was because of an injury. He was outstanding.

I just saw an Oiler fan on Twitter call Markstrom "Koskinen light".
Ok, lol

Vancouver being one of the worst shots against team is a factor IMO. Demko played a couple games and was on an IV

Not sure if its been said but goalies tend to hit their prime in their late 20's and can play some excellent hockey through their 30's. Not the same thing as signing a skater with regards to potential drop off in play.

Him and the other guy that isn't Pat seem totally devoid of personalities.
Monotone, listing stats, safe takes, nothing out of left field to offer. Just agreeing with Pat's thoughts all program.

For goalies you are always better off looking at the body of work for an extended period of time.
And quite frankly Markstrom's career .911 save percentage just isn't that great. It's better than what the Flames have had since Kipper but it's still risky.
Over the last three years here is how Markstrom rates in all situations for goalies with over 4000 minutes played in that time (Starter minutes - 39 qualified goalies).
SV%: .914 (18th)
GSAA: 15.56 (18th)
GSAA/60: 0.10 (18th)
HDSV%: .831 (10TH)
MDSV%: .910 (22nd)
LDSV%: .961 (24th)
So he's kind of middle of the pack among the guys that you could almost qualify as a starter over a longer time horizon. Which means it's fine to give him $5.5M but to do it for 6 or 7 years is an overpayment for sure.
Looking at the numbers the best recent UFA comparable to him would be Varlamov, who got 4 years and $5M last season.

Here is where SPORTLOGiQ has Markstrom - two spots better than my numbers. Only a one-season sample, though.
