Lazar will be on the Flames for sure, but he shouldn't by any means be any guarantee for an opening night spot.

If anything this game should show management Bartkowski should be permantely in Stockton. Disappointing last 2 periods. Had 6 powerplays and less than 5 shots on net it felt like. Hopefully a good chunk of cuts happen tomorrow, so we can get the regulars in and moving.

And I definitely don't. I have never posted about either Janko or Feaster before.

The tire pumping isn't only from this forum though. Its from the Flames organization too. Your timestamping the negatives is still a remarkably shorter list than if you timestamped all his positive contributions tonight as well.
You got the blinders on hombre.

I love what I've seen from Dube but think he's too small and slight to make the show full time right now. I think he could use another year to fill out.

Oh and also I was pretty disappointed in Foo. Where was his big shot?

They stuck him with grinders tonight for what I assume is to get a sense if he can handle a 4th line role.

Yeah, been a bit disappointing. The Canucks roster and Oilers road roster were more than beatable but the Flames found ways to lose in each game.
Every team is going to have their early struggles/jitters at some point (not usually for a couple months like 16/17 Flames, but a week or two, or preseason), I'd rather the Flames get their lazy/lackadaisical play out of the way now and see GG rip into them to get their game together before the matches start to matter than be flying high when it doesn't matter.

Dude its preseason. They aren't real games. Imagine they are scrimmages, the results are literally meaningless. The veterans are just trying to get their timing back. Like 2/3 of our real roster wasn't even playing.
How do NHL fans put any stock in what happens? It's ridiculous.

15 or so of those guys wont be on the roster opening night. Condemn the group tonight for a lackluster effort but you can't say these guys will start the season poorly when the majority won't actually be there.
If we see a poor effort from the team likely to start the season in the last few pre season games then ok, ypu can be steamed at them then.

Well, they got their answer if that's the case. He's not even close to any NHL role IMO... need to move on from that idea. Seems to me Lazar, Glass and Janko (at least to start the year) will be the guys. I'm not sure Foo survives next round of cuts to be honest.

Have BT or GG said how many games the actual roster will get to play together before the season opener on Oct 4?
I think that's so much more important than anything else at this point.
- Getting your line chemistry going
- Getting your D partner chemistry going
- Getting used to the new goalies
- Implementing the PP and PK in a game setting
- Getting line changes correct so you don't have stupid changes on Oct 4
There's 4 games left. I hope they give atleast 2 games to the actual team.

Probably. I'm a massive homer don't get me wrong, I am probably just missing something in his case. Nonetheless I'll continue to be skeptical until I see it as opposed to appealing to authority.

Well. Kind of a disappointing game. Flames didn't look good past the first period. Nobody really stood out completely, although a couple players looked good like Dube. Other than that, pretty underwhelming. Not enough hunger from quite a few players who should be playing their butts off for jobs. Would also like to see a goalie truly shut the door one game... Hopefully the Flames can get close to their NHL roster in the next few games. Need to get the ball rolling with team chemistry and stuff like that early.

Kylington, Janko, and Dube were the standouts for me.
Didn't notice Cramrossa, whereas Glass looked good...? wasn't expecting that.
Lomberg is also great, but that's not a surprise. I'd love him and/or Lomberg on the 4th line at some point.

If we're gonna throw Glass in with Hathaway and Freddie, you have to add Lomberg. Glass, Lomberg and Dube all showed better than Hathaway tonight. in fact, that line won the night over Cramarossa, Hathaway and Foo.

Ok man so I was watching every shift this period and here it is for Janko:
18:50 - giveaway in the o zone on a PP, after a great play by Valimaki, that resulted in a rush the other way
15:05 caught flat footed with puck on his stick, rush goes the other way
15:00 - Loses faceoff but his winger picks it up, moves up ice
? (next shift) - Loses Faceoff, stuck in his zone for the entire shift, changes
9:10 loses faceoff
9:00 makes a nice play in the d zone to break up a play and move the puck up ice himself. Teammate turns the puck over in o zone on a cycle and line is stuck in d zone again.
5:10 loses faceoff but wingers bail him out. Puck goes the other way anyways.
5:00 - loses faceoff which immediately leads to a scoring chance against
5:00 Loses faceoff but winger bails him out again
4:50 takes long shot from outside off the rush which is deflected, then parks in front of the net, is outmuscled to loose puck
4:36 doesnt see Versteeg stuck in zone and goes offside
1:30 misses loose puck on rim in o zone and comes back 3 on 2.
1:03 dumps the puck out of the d zone which is deflected over the glass
I will continue to watch.

Now pick 2-3 other players tonight and do the exact same exercise.
