Sorry, do you mind naming these players, that are regulars, who you think Jooris is better than? I'm assuming you are talking about players who play RW/C predominately.
Our whole bottom 6 minus Ferland.
Jooris is better than all those guys.
Chiasson Vey Stajan Bouma Bollig, Hathaway if you consider him an NHLer. Jooris is better and more versatile than all of them.

As I pointed out here, Jooris had more overall success in 2015-16 with Johnny and Monny as any player not named Hudler. So for that reason I am a bit disappointed he is gone. Overall though, it is what it is. Flames probably offered a two-way and Rangers a one-way, no-brainer decision for him.

Oh, I disagree then. At best, Jooris is equal to some of those guys but isn't a viable replacement for most of them for various reasons. The only ones I would say Jooris is definitively better than are Bollig and Vey, but Bollig is a LW and Vey likely won't even make the team. Stajan and Bouma are immaterial because Bouma is LW and they both have unmovable contracts. I would rather have Chaisson and Hathaway over Jooris, but that is just personal preference. I think Chaisson has a higher offensive ceiling, and will be at least just as capable as Jooris when it comes to holding down 4th line RW if it comes to that. Hathaway looked like a bigger, meaner version of 14/15 Jooris last year while 15/16 Jooris looked like a more penalty prone, less skilled version of Matt Stajan.

Agreed. I can come up with Bollig and thats about it.
I know a lot of people have a hard on for Ferland but statistically he was probably the Flames worst forward last season when you look at his production vs his ice time and opportunities in a top 6 role and team worst -15. I expect he will be used completely different under the new staff that will place him in a permanent bottom 6 role and occasional pressbox.

that's not correct.

Please supply evidence as the stats clearly show with more ice time and more top 6 time he had the same amount of goals as Jooris and only 5 more assists. He was terrible last season.

Offensively Ferland was disappointing last year but he was easily better than most of the bottom 6 all year in every other way. I think you are confusing who has a "hard on" for Ferland, and why. Probably less than 10% of this board views him as a top 6 solution. Most think he's a good 4th liner who can move up in a pinch and not look out of place. If you think Ferland is worse than that, I don't know what to tell you other than your standard for Ferland being a 4th liner is too high, higher than the standard you seem to hold others to.

Where did I say he was worse than a 4th line player? I have no issues with him getting a spot on the 4th line but I don't think he's much better than a Jooris type player in that he has to produce and work hard to maintain a roster spot.
Ferland managed 122 shots on net last season, but only scored four times. That's a SH% of 3.3%, which is ghastly. It's so bad we can reasonably assume he was unlucky. To give that number some context, Cory Sarich's career SH% was 2.5%. Deryk Engelland has scored on just over 5% of his shots over his career.
So 3.5% is usually what you'd expect out a defensive defensemen. It's almost impossible for any non-good forward to be that bad.
Which is why it's a safe bet that Ferland simply suffered through a dry streak.

That's every 4th liner in the league though, I'm not sure why it's worth singling him out. Jooris and Ferland aren't competing for the same spot but of they were, I choose Ferland because he is more physical, bigger and just as good, or better, than him in every other aspect.

Top 4 F linemates (by TOI) for Jooris were Stajan, Bollig, Ferland, and Bouma. Their collective FSh% was 2.8% League average was 6.5%
