Hathaway can take his spot on the 4th line and be more physical in that function

Jooris wasn't great last year, but his rookie year was phenomenal. I hope he got a nice paycheck

I believe in the Jays.

That's to bad. Jooris would have been an ideal bottom sixer for us. Nice pick-up for the Rangers (*spit* whom I loath).

If Jooris managed to a get a 1-way deal that would be impressive.

Good luck to him, but between Freddie Hamilton, Garnet Hathaway and now Linden Vey the Flames have lots of cheap reliable options for depth right handed winger, with Vey and Hamilton also being able to play centre too.

Best of luck Jooris, loved how you won a spot out of nowhere!

I'm with MMF on this one.....Jooris was no good at all last year and has no one to blame but himself for his lack of success and no longer being a part of the Flames. Not only penalties but uninspired play when he was given chances. He needs to bang and crash and get dirty. He did almost none of that last year. Guys like him have to prove themselves every year or another guy just like him grabs that spot.
Hopefully he learns from it and goes on to a nice NHL career but I won't be betting on it after seeing what he can do a couple years ago and then what he did do last season.

Terrible would be you or I on skates for the Flames.
Terrible was the Iginla trade.
In my opinion Jooris was far from terrible last season. Was he as good as his rookie season, maybe not, but not terrible.

And with guys like Shinkaruk, Poirier, Jankowski, Tkachuk, and Daniel Pribyl all pushing for spots it makes it easy to cut loose a guy like Jooris.

No, terrible is terrible in the context of NHL players. As someone who is supposed to be one, he was terrible.

Relatively to a professional, and where a player of his class needs to be to succeed, he was terrible. Josh Jooris only has success in the NHL if every shift he's out there, he's going at it like it's his last. He's not good enough otherwise. Last year, he lost that spark, which to a guy like him is a death knell when there's a younger hungrier guy like Hathaway waiting in the wings.
Hopefully Ferland and Bouma took notice because they are next if they are not careful.

Agreed, it his play reminded me of Glencross after he got comfortable on the Flames.
Jooris can be a good bottom 6 player if he plays a crash and bang game.

The guy is 26. Loved him last year even though he was a beneficiary of playing with Gaudreau at the beginning of the year. His game lacked effort this year, and just was not good when he was running cold (which happened to be the whole year) and just took dumb penalties.
I think being told to find a place in Calgary got him to settle too much. He played himself out of the lineup despite multiple shots.

I don't want to use this thread to pile on Glencross but you compare his first season to his last and his effort level is night and day as by the end he was arguably the laziest forward on the team. Guys like that can never feel like they have made it and are safe.

Did not want to give up on Jooris as he showed so much potential playing with decent linemates in his rookie year. However, he looked like another Stajan out there last year - in the bad way. So although his departure is understandable I would have liked to have tried him again. I appreciate that this opens up a valuable roster spot for younger players with higher ceilings so from a management standpoint it makes sense.
Jooris is like Byron or Prust. The kind of bottom-6 player you can fall in love with. And I agree with whoever said if we can't fall in love with our replaceable bottom sixers then the terrorists have won.

Same. I'm gonna miss Joo. He came out of nowhere and like Hartley said, is a real firecracker when he's skating. Proof that hard work pays off. Glad he's getting an opportunity elsewhere.

Sorry, do you mind naming these players, that are regulars, who you think Jooris is better than? I'm assuming you are talking about players who play RW/C predominately.
