It's because they all bust up ice looking for the stretch pass, and when it doesn't come, they are left slamming on the breaks at the blueline and end up standing around. Hard to beat someone to a dump in when you're starting out flat footed. Hartley needs to do some coaching here and make an adjustment.

Aside from a ton of slashing, I have no idea why the Flames play so scared against these bums. Guys like Ferland, Colborne, Jones, etc. should be taking runs at the Ducks' d-men, but they're given plenty of time in their own zone instead.

this is a good test for Hartley. I'd make sure Brodie and Gaudreau aren't out at the same time, the only two going to be able to gain the zone. Tell Gaudreau to not pass unless he has to.
