Yeah, exactly. Going to have to call me when Pouliot breaks 40 points or 20 goals ever. Pouliot is Frolik's lesser brother. In 7 seasons Frolik had broken 40 points 4 times, in the same 7 seasons Pouliot never has.

Benoit had 19 goals last season and came close to 20 but his shooting percentage was almost double what it was the season before, and I know Oil Stain is a big proponent of shooting percentage, as he correctly predicted Sean Monahan's drop in goals last year.

Perhaps every team wised up to the fact that this was a career year as he never reached 20 goals before and he did it playing with the likes of Kesler.

If he can play up and down the lines... maybe he can be the RW Stajan?

I like this signing.

The Hawks have 2 players with a low RGI as you noted.... you will note that Kane and Teravainen are not put out on the same line often if ever.

even Richards and Keith delivered just under a hit a game in the playoffs.

The Hawks did win the championship... they wore down a smaller no-contact Tampa team that would not have made it out of the West.

As to who looked after Kane and Teravininen's not getting run out of the rink....

Andrew Desjardins
Andrew Shaw
Antoine Vermette
Brandon Saad
Brent Seabrook
Bryan Bickell
Jonathan Toews
Marian Hossa
Patrick Sharp

a lot of top-6 guys on that list who averaged around 2 hits each and every Hawk playoff game... Seabrook is also on the ice for half the game and is more intimidating than any d-man the Flames have.

The Hawks top-6 , similar to the Ducks top-6 would physically dominate , if not outright bully and scare the Flames top-6 of

Gaudreau, Monahan, Hudler, Colborne, Bennett and Frolick.

Hartley would not let that happen and Ferland or Jones or Bouma would get time on the top-6 to even things out a bit.

I love this attitude.

Reminds me of Backlund's interview after re-signing saying how he feels like h's found his role on this team and fully embraces it.

Love this signing so much, really glad we snagged him and at such a good price as well.

Can we get to October already, it's going to be a long Summer.

Since you don't believe in the regression of shooting percentage then perhaps we should bet some money on whether Hudler and Monahan both hit 30 goals again this upcoming season.

I'll bet. But I'll change it to I'll eat a really over cooked eye of round steak, if their totals are not better or comparable.

Quoted for emphasis. I was hoping we would sign him but given his age and the small UFA pool, I was expecting to overpay by more. Fair deal equals awesome deal this time of year.

Realistically, he has at least 4 or 5 peak years left in him. Plus he mote or less fits the identity.

How do you explain Iggy's career shooting percentage?

If you can show me where I said I don't believe it or where I said Monahan and Hudler are guarantees to both hit 30 again, I'll take that bet. Though I'd hate for you to be halfway associated with me agin, I know that bothers you. (Remove that quote if you want by the way. I didn't, in anyway, ask you to put it there, you're forcing yourself into that painful association smart guy)

Thinking regression happens and thinking it's an absolute are different things. All last summer you were throwing around "because shooting percentage" so much it became a meme. Some players have high shooting percentages throughout their careers, Monahan could be one of those guys, hovering between 12-15 wouldn't be out of the ordinary for top line players. Hudler is another one of those guys.

Where your "because shooting percentage" makes sense is for a guy like Lance Bouma, who was never a scorer and his S% of four to six percent skyrocketed to 15.

Both Monahan and Hudler probably get anywhere from 20-25 goals as a safe bet, could easily go higher. Lance Bouma probably won't hit 16 again...

Because shooting percentage.

Its .133

I'd explain it by saying that is a pretty normal career shooting percentage for a star player to have.

Anything over 14 is extremely out of the ordinary.

http://www.hockey-reference.com/lead...ct_career.html

Hudler is 4th in career shooting percentage among all active players at .151.

Monahan is currently sitting at .160.

Sure it's possible that Monahan is an extreme exception to the rule, but it'd be a poor bet to assume that after a single season or two.

Cogliano shot .188 and .155 his first two seasons. and currently sits at .123 for his career for example.
