Yes, but in 5 years he'll be into his early 30s, which is the point being made.

Frolik is 13 months older than Backlund (for those worried about a 5 year deal)

Define consistency. Was Jooris on a consistent line with consistent linemates? Was he getting consistent minutes? Expecting consistency out of any of the guys who were being rotated in our bottom 9 was an exercise in futility last season. The only "consistent" forward outside of the top line was Lance Bouma.

If you were expecting Jooris to keep up his early season goal scoring, no, he didn't keep at a 20+ goal pace. But in 60 games this season alone, "inconsistent" Josh Jooris had more goals than Michael Frolik in 136 games as a Blackhawk, and Bollig has had in his entire regular season + Playoff career. If he's a fourth liner, what would that make those guys?

If you were expecting Jooris to keep up his early season goal scoring, no, he didn't keep at a 20+ goal pace playing on bad lines. But in 60 games this season alone, "inconsistent" Josh Jooris had more goals than Michael Frolik in 136 games as a Blackhawk, and Bollig has had in his entire regular season + Playoff career.
I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. Nothing against Jooris, but he added nothing to the team when he wasn't scoring. Apart from that one Arizona game where he scored a hatty I honestly kind of forgot about him most nights.

Frolik by all accounts should address the Flames' need for a 2nd line natural RW, as well as their needs to get better on the PK and in the possession department even if he doesn't dominate on the scoreboard. But the Flames have both players now, so what's the problem?

You really should be contracted for the Flames, you always seem to beat them outright in announcements hahah "...the sureLoss is strong in this one..."

Shhh, don't disagree! It's all about the stats you see on hockeydb.com and nothing else because comparing players like Frolik to Bollig to Jooris is totally fair. It's like when Niklas Hagman scored 11 goals in a season for us and our beloved Backlund scored 10. We all knew Hagman should have been on the team going forward.

Frolik on Fan 960 now saying it also helped that Hudler was in Calgary and knowing another Czech guy on the team. Would seem to suggest that Huds is not going anywhere.

Positive impact of players on the Flames making the 2016 playoffs and having winning playoff series:

1) Hamilton
2) Bennett
3) Ferland
4) Getting Gio back for a complete season

5) Frolick

He's right -- Winnipeg is geographically the closest Canadian team to Chicago, who currently has the Stanley Cup

FAN960 Notes:

Impressive what the guys did last year. Great season. Can just get better. Very young and talented. Great team to go into the future. Jiri Hudler is a great friend.
It is not a big influence on his decision but it is nice to have a Czech guy in the team. Families can hang out and such.
Team, city, everything has to come together. Reiterates the bright future of the team. Heard great things about Calgary, the city, too.
Was in Florida during the draft and met with clubs.
Had a very good time in Winnipeg. It was a good organization. Good relationship with the coach. Had a great Czech friend there. He still likes it there, but the times are changing and he is happy to be a Flamer.
Says that he can play first/second/third line, can be moved in the lineup. Can play special teams, both powerplay and penalty killing.
Described the atmosphere in Chicago as “crazy.” Has heard that Calgary has great fans, like to play in hockey markets and full barns.
Says that he is not really a cowboy guy.

Let me get my point across in one fell swoop because my original argument went off on a tangent:

1) Frolik is a knee-jerk signing to fix a possession problem that was essentially self-imposed. Not a bad signing by any means, but he's probably on the overpaid side for what he brings.

2) The players who do compose those possession problems are still on the roster and will continue to get playing time over stronger possession players. That's a problem and fixing it will go a longer way than throwing money at UFAs.

3) Named stronger possession player who gets called "inconsistent" yet produces consistently better possession, averages significantly more PK time than the players who are being favored ahead of him in the lineup which is a big source of possession problem (though that's only at forward, problem also existed at D but the solution found there made much more sense dollar for dollar). For an inconsistent player does pretty much everything on the ice better than Brandon Bollig except pick fights with other team's goons.

That's it. I'm done with this topic.
