Wow that is rich. The TO media, and specifically Cox spend an entire season calling for this exact thing, then turn around and say "That's cold".

What an idiot.

Dreger "Nonis & some of the other members of the mgmgt team pushed hard against Burke to not make the Kessel trade"

 Hope_Smoke @Hope_Smoke
Dreger "not bc they didn't see the potential in Kessel but they believed Leafs should have been focused on drafting & developing"

Dreger "goes to ego & how some men think they can expedite the rebuilding process."

I thought at the time of both the Kessel and Phaneuf trades that the "rumors" were that Nonis had a large part to play in brokering the trades.

Kessel trade was in 2009, I really hope they are not trying to say there was a correlation to this seasons disaster.

Hockeycentral at noon today - playoffs start this week and they've spent the first 15 minutes talking without break about the TML and their next GM without break. Still going strong as I type.

Playoffs don't start until Wednesday and they're in Toronto. It's what it is

The real questions is how long before Nonis becomes the GM in Calgary. (It's a 100% given that he'll be working for the Club. That's just how Burke operates.)

I'd guess dough boy will be hired as an assistant GM before September of this year and settles into the GM's chair by the beginning of the 2017-18 Flame season.
 |
There is zero percent chance that Nonis lands a job with the Flames.
And there's a very slim chance he ever finds a GM job again in the NHL.

Darren Dreger @DarrenDregerShanahan requested and was given permission from the Arizona Coyotes to speak with Sean Burke earlier this week. Ongoing discussions.

The leafs would have to compensate the coyotes if they hired Burke though wouldn't they?
