Why would you give up assets to get a guy you know will be released anyways? Especially when that guy isn't even necessarily an upgrade over the guy you already have. It's not like the market for Kolb is going to be crazy.

Really he'd still be worth a pick if his contract was still somewhat favorable. But in this case you are parting with an asset to acquire a risky contract. Let him be released...give him a 2 million bonus now, and another 5 if he's on the roster September 1st. That removes a lot of the risk for the Browns. If he gets that roster bonus on Saturday whoever is holding that contract has committed to that pot.

It was reported in the Kansas City Star that both the Chiefs and Seahawks wanted Manning to take a tour of their facilities like he has in Denver and Arizona, but Manning declined as he is not interested in playing for those teams. He has 0% of going to KC or Seattle as he is not interested.

Exactly. Any team who gives up more than a 5th for Kolb is wasting a pick. No way Arizona pays him that bonus, and I'm pretty sure the only place he has left to go is Cleveland but the Browns aren't desperate for him.
EDIT: That being said, I would take him back on the Eagles as a backup in a heartbeat. He's certainly an upgrade over Kafka or Edwards.

Ugh, if Manning becomes a Bronco I will do a backflip in the air and send a bouquet of flowers to Elway and Fox.

Moss is visiting the 49ers today.
Alex Smith isn't signed yet* and Colin Kaepernick is out of town so the QB throwing to Moss will be...Jim Harbaugh.
*In an interview yesterday, Smith seemed fine with the 3 year contract he has been offered and said his agent is simply ironing out the details. And NFL league sources have said the 49ers are NOT one of the "mystery" teams competing for Manning.

I've checked this thread close to a hundred times the last couple days hoping Manning has signed in Denver. Please just end this today haha. I'm gonna be pretty bummed if our quarterback for the season is Tebow after nearly having Peyton ####ing Manning
If we do sign Manning Id rather keep Tebow as a backup/special situation player unless we can get a similar 1st round pick that we used on him in return

If Manning ends up in Arizona that will make the NFC West really tough for quite a while. With all the draft picks the Rams got, they are going to load up. And with a great QB the Cardinals will be a force once again. 49ers have 10 of their 11 starters on defence coming back, a young offensive line who really developed nicely the 2nd half of the season, and are going to sign or draft some impact receivers; so they should be tough.
Suddenly the NFC West will be a division no one wants to play.

As a Browns fan, pretty dissapointed to hear of the Skins-Rams deal, but I wouldnt have given up that much. The thought of Kolb joining the Browns is not very exciting either.

I think keeping Tebow would make a tonne of sense in a backup role. His salary isn't crazy. And what but good could come out of learning under Manning for a season or two? And if Manning gets hurt, Tim has shown he can win. Or convert him to a fullback and run some crazy trick plays.

Disagree. If Manning comes to Denver Tebow MUST go. They can't have the distraction that his presence would cause.
Clearly, they don't think Tebow is the long term answer or they would not be pursuing Manning so vigorously. As much as I respect what Tebow did and love the heart and guts he shows on the field, I agree with their assessment. He's not the long term answer.
If they sign Manning, they will trade Tebow and draft a young (ie not Weeden) QB to spend a couple of years behind Peyton. Maybe a Brock Osweiler...another very tall QB (though much more athletic than Manning) who can be a sponge for a couple of years while he prepares to take over upon Manning's retirement.
That's how I see this playing out.

Tebow would have more value to the Jaguars than as a backup QB to the Broncos.
Plus, as Dis says, they would want to remove all possibility of a QB controversy should Manning lose his first few games.
Who else would possibly offer anything for Tebow? Miami, purely for the PR?

New England? Belichick is a fan of Tebow and so is McDaniels. I'm sure they could find ways to make him useful.

Manning would be crazy to go to Denver with that offensive line they have. If his neck wasn't broken before the season it will be after.

They do have the most cap space in the league though and the ability to perhaps even add Jeff Saturday at a pretty low cost should he choose not to retire. Broncos can build a lot for Peyton this offseason with the flexibility they have.

49ers re-sign CB Tremaine Brock to a 1 year contract.
He missed 3 games with a broken hand last year and in that time lost his #3 CB position to Chris Culliver. Sounds like Culliver is going to step in to a starting CB position (assuming Carlos Rogers signs elsewhere which looks probable).
