He also built his whole empire around disenfranchisation (If thats a word) and pride generating rallies.

I didn't think that his book was that brilliantly written, I compare it to a teenager raging against the unfairness of the world and spewing a 100000 word argument without taking a breath.

I did several papers in university on Hitler and the grand illusion.

There have been very few like him in the last 100 years.
I guess we will agree to disagree about the book but I too did several papers on him and I certainly agree that no one else except perhaps JFK has been able to carry on with their mere presense.

I doubt that political rhetoric fired this guy up, he was already well on his way when you look at his videos.

These crazies create their own justifications with little or no outside influence.

The one thing that always seems in common with these type of whacko's is that their justification is all about self.

You need to turn off the Fox News. This thread is turning very disturbing.

But FOX NEWS IS THE DEBIL!?!!?!? yes they are the debil because they are a conservative tv station. But the other Clinton news network or Comunistmsnbc are okay since they dribble their agendas? Okay....
The reason they are called stereotypes is because they tend to be true. I've spent plenty of time in Arizona and there is plenty of bigotry and prejudice. I'm aboriginal but I was treated like dirt by plenty of people there because they thought I was Mexican.

I also like that you call Fox News a conservative TV station when it's actually a Republican mouthpiece. Then turn around and call CNN or MSNBC liberal stations. If you think that's liberal then you have a warped sense of what liberal is. Hell, the Democrats would be right of the Canadian conservative party...and they are pretty right on the political spectrum.

There is a reason the rest of the world looks at the US and laughs. You are a good example of why that is. Sorry, but it's the cold hard truth.

It would be no different if I blamed all Muslim for this. Absolutely no evidence....but hey...I am sure it was their fault. PATHETIC!
If he had YouTube videos about jihads and Mohammed and the target was religious near a contested church and the arresting sherriff referenced the Times Square Mosque - then we'd be drawing conclusions appropriately.

None except for the words of the Tucson Sheriff. Yeah, they don't have any inside information, like the kid's own confession, as to what his motivations were. When law enforcement releases information like that there is something of substance to it. The Sheriff stated that the ramped up political rhetoric was responsible for this action. Pretty damning.

I honestly don't watch Fox, CNN, MSNBC or the others. I watch local news and the University news. I use to watch those but they are so stuck on their agenda I couldn't stand it. It was just one giant pissing contest between everyone.

Yeah, JFK was a boundary figure, and I say boundary because while he was charasmatic he didn't really bend a society.

Hitler bent a society completely to his views.

You could argue that Stalin and Saddam Hussein were both very similar in that effect. Maybe Mussolini, but I've never been sure about him.

Look at us and laugh but ask for help whenever it's needed....

But I laugh when people say stereotypes tend to be true but when anyone says anything about someone else's stereotype it's wrong?

I feel bad for you, I went to Rapid City a couple of years ago and there where a large amount of Native Americans. If I didn't live around a lot of mexicans in Iowa I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. But if you haven't lived in the states It would be hard to understand the resentment for a group of people that want nothing to do with your country other than the $ that they can send back home.

It would be like me going up to Canada and just wanting Medical care and going home (which I'm sure that happens)

It's a social drag on the system and this is why Arizona is becoming the laughing stock of the country (yes, even Mississippi) about all of it's legislation towards Latinos.

Online, Loughner complained about the "second Constitution," a term
legal scholars sometimes use to describe the post-Civil War amendments
that ended slavery, extended the right to vote and required equal
protection under the law. Its meaning to Loughner could not be clearly
discerned.

"In conclusion, reading the second United States constitution I can't
trust the current government because of the ratifications: the
government is implying mind control and brainwash on the people by
controlling grammar," he wrote in a Decmber 15 video message on
YouTube. "No! I won't pay debt with a currency that's not backed by
gold and silver! No! I wont trust in God!"

And in an apparent reference to Giffords' congressional district, he
wrote, "The majority of people, who reside in District-8 are
illiterate -- hilarious."

Apology accepted PIMking. Thanks.

At the end of the day, this whole thing is about a guy who was NUTS, who had easy access to fire arms. Sure there may be a political element to it, but no sane individual, vents his political anger by dropping 19 people in the cereal aisle. If this guy didn't have a weapon, we are not having this discussion. As for all the bravados down south that claim to pack weapons, for self defense. How come we never, ever hear stories about you guys saving the day, and actually stopping one of these lunatics?

Equating the moral actions of the two parties is wrong. The republicans are a national political party that endorses ignorance and hatred, I consider proof of this to be the consumers of their message acting this way.

The sin of the left is marginalization?

Remind me again what party the last two Presidents who were shot belonged too.

Political affiliation has nothing to with anything when it comes to the lunatic fringe.

Its becoming somewhat apparent this dooshbag was nothing more than a pissed off kid who didnt get his way, had no idea how to deal with his sickness and therefore emptied a clip on a bunch of innocent people...and was doing so regardless of their political beliefs.

You know, as a Canadian, I sometimes cringe at our superiority complex.

Its nice that we try to hide it behind our polite facade but its there.

You sure about that? In his garbled diseased mind he had issues with the government, and likely saw an advertised public event with an elected government representative as an opportunity. There's certainly evidence that suggests premeditation, and he apparently knew who Giffords was.

You left out Barry Goldwater.

I'm blaming populist opinion makers that have fueled the sort of incessant political rhetoric we see today. It's like everyone is yelling "Fire" in a crowded theatre.

It was nothing personal as I stated. I wish I could have someone type things for me. I have thoughts that make a lot of sense to me but I just have a extremely hard time typing them.

Another thing that's working against me is the 4 hours of sleep in the last 40 hours... Gosh I'm tired and they are calling for 4-8 inches of snow down here tomorrow night.

The reason why you don't hear much about saving the day is because that is good news. The media (well down here) doesn't like to show good news. There was a bank robber that was stopped a couple of months ago in Florida with his CCW.

I do think that they could be a lot more selective who gets a weapon. But if this guys buddies didn't say anything with showing some serious mental problems is amazing. I love my best friends, but if one was acting like a complete idiot I'm sure as hell going to say something. Last thing I want to known as is "the best friend to that guy"
