Wes Studi as Magua in The Last of the Mohicans was down right terrifying:
Ricardo Montalban as Khan I think was the best ever, and one of the most under rated performances in the history of film. I don't think a guest actor ever stole the show quite like Ricardo did in ST2. The ultimate Trek villain:
I think my big thing with these two, is both of their characters were very easy to sympathize with. They had a legit bone to pick with the protagonists. The more I watch ST2, the more I wish the Enterprise never got away and Kirk and his whiny kid could have just been vaporized.
Hans Gruber was the best kind of villain: The one you root for.
That performance put Alan Rickman on everybody's want list too. He's carved a wonderful career out of Hans.

You'll pardon me if you let me offer another Oldman performance for your consideration. Stansfield from Leon the Professional. A truly evil character played to perfection with a certain giddiness that makes him the creepiest character ever. Both NSFW for violence and language.
NSFW!

The guy is just so apologetic and sympathetic about what he feels he has to do for the good of the universe. One of the main reasons Serenity succeeds so completely in doing Star Wars better than Star Wars.
