Basically thanks in general doesn't seem to be very well written from a backend point of view and was causing significant performance problems, so we've taken it out for now. It'll come back at some point but some stuff will have to happen first.

a couple of times I've accidentally thanked posts when using a touch screen, i.e. phone or tablet. looking those up allowed me to do periodic cleanup, but I guess that's no longer possible so at some point a crazy drunk/trolling/neo-nazi/pro-oilers post is gonna get a thanks from me that will stay until we're able to search again.
