Yep, sometimes I just give up. Really bad in the last month or so it seems. It used to be pretty rare.
Figured it was my computer at first, but then realized all other sites work fine during the down times.

How often does it happen? If I log into the admin console it does some stats queries on the forum which slows things down terribly for a few minutes. If I do searches for IP addresses (for new registrations for example), that also slows things down. Those things can go on once or twice in a day (or 3-4 times depending on what I need to do).

Seems to be happening way too often for it to be that. It was just very slow about 10 minutes ago as well.

Hm, that could be automated processes, or could be something else, maybe searches...

It seems to occur several times within an hour or so from what I've noticed the past several days.

I've had it happen as well, but usually it doesn't last very long so it is more than likely during one of those search times.
When it happens next ill try to post in this thread so we have a time stamp.

Yeah I logged into the admin account and it ran the stats queries.
I wonder if I can disable those stats queries.

Yeah logged into the Admin control panel again, and again just now.
Fortunately I did find a way to disable the stats thing that caused it in that case, so that gets rid of one source.

I had a very slow loading time about 5 minutes ago. Also, a thread search took 20 seconds not two minutes ago. First time I've had speed issues since the last server upgrade.
Personally, I just chalk it up to overload caused by Begin's retirement announcement.

Made a quick change to brute force more power to the webserver. Let me know if anyone sees any difference. Anyone have an idea when this started? While Photon's looking at the servers I'll take a look at the environment. Definitely see something the last day or two, but quick look over the previous weeks everything seems to look pretty good.

For me it started this afternoon. Happened again when I posted the fight pics in tonights PGT. The forum simply hung for about two minutes, and has been fine since.

Thanks. That seems to match what Photon identified. I'll force the servers to the fastest hosts possible to brute force the issues in the meantime. It may not stop them but it will shorten them.

Have been having trouble even getting to the webpage. Sometimes it times out, sometimes it will eventually load after a long wait.

Yeah I managed to log in fast enough to see the MySQL process list, and there was a query that has holding everything up. I'll have to figure out what that query is, I only got to see the first part of it:
SELECT postid
FROM post AS post
INNER JOIN thread AS thread ON(thread.threadid = post.threadid

I know Photon is in and out of the server this morning checking things out and maybe doing some tests, so that may be the source this morning. I know he is in the servers, just don't know what he is doing. I see massive usage spikes that correspond to your posts, so definitely it's helped me confirm the spikes I've seen and the "blackout" periods reported in the thread correspond.
Edit: He's always a few seconds ahead of me . . .
