Tim Thomas wants to return to the NHL
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 32s Expect an announcement shortly that Tim Thomas is exploring his return to play opportunities in the NHL.
He is currently UFA as the Islanders elected not to toll his contract.

Nice. I think his political position fits well in Alberta!

The Canucks need a backup for Luongo.

I'd actually like for the Oilers to sign him to a 1 year deal. He can still play.

Might be a tad rusty, dumb decision to sit out a year near the end of your career.

If politics were influencing his decision he might prefer Dallas. The right up here is closer to the left down there.

I suspect Edmonton, Philadelphia, and maybe even Calgary to be all over this. Possibly even Pittsburgh to if they want someone better than Vokoun for insurance in the playoffs.

Yeah I agree with those teams too. I think Philadelphia will make the biggest push for him. Steve Mason is the starter right now and he isn't that good.

Tampa Bay is the likely choice when one considers goaltending need, politics, and never having to see Obama.

His agent makes it official:
Bill Zito @acmeworldsports 11m Tim Thomas has asked me to explore possible options for next season. We'll have no further comment at this time. Thanks.

I hope the Flames aren't in on this. With the number of goalies that we have in the organization, I'd rather hope that one of them manages to prove himself as a solid NHL goalie during next season.

I hope Marc Bergevin calls him up and goes thru what the income tax rates are in Quebec, how much the government subsidizes things, how efficiently spent government money is. Than lowballs him with a contract offer.

Doesn't Thomas live in Colorado right now?
They could use a goalie.
