Fans vote who wins the Hobey Baker?
He won't be getting my vote though. Not because he is a future flame, but for the fact he plays for BC.

Nope. Just a minor part of who is nominated.

Only one player has ever won the Hobey Baker then went to the NHL and won the Calder.
That player? Chris Drury (1998 Baker, 1999 Calder). His NHL coach? Bob Hartley.

Corban Knight is a Calgary area kid, good hockey player too. I still voted for Johnny.

Is my math wrong, or is the only player with comparable age to Gaudreau, should he win the Hobey Baker Award this year, Paul Kariya?
I just ran a quick excel calculation and noticed that all other winners are generally 21-24, while Kariya was about 19 when he won, right about Gaudreau's age.

For anyone interested, Corban Knight is a 22 year old senior with 29 points (10 g) in 19 games played. Johnny Gaudreau has 23 points (11 g) in 14 games as a 19 year old sophomore.

Yeah, it's generally a third or fourth year player's award. Kariya is the only freshman to win it, and Ryan Miller and Ryan Duncan are the only sophomores to win it -- and they were both older sophomores (Miller was almost 21 and Duncan was almost 22).
Gaudreau would become only the second player under the age of 20 to win the Hobey.

Someone should toss him at least 1 vote, just to get rid of that giant goose egg. Won't someone think of the Gillies?!
Johnny currently 89 votes ahead.
