I think we should add polls for Ward 4 alderman and Ward 11/13 Public School trustee.

Who's running for Wards 11 and 13 school trustee? Don't tell me First Lady's running for that too? God help us all!

If I lived in Calgary, I'd go for Barb Higgins since she's kind of hot for a politician.
I would definitely not go for Kent Hehr since he's too wishy washy. He doesn't stand for anything!

Poll added. Are there really 17 candidates now? Yikes.

It will be interesting to see if we still have 17 mayoral candidates after nomination day (I doubt it myself).
Fech! Even though he won't win we'll still get to enjoy his presence at council meetings, now that is good free entertainment (New World Order, Freemasons, Chemtrails...).
Caught a report about what colour is popular for the fall, purple!

Can you add an undecided option please. I am definitely still undecided. I will try and make my mind up for poll #4.

Just had a look at Bonnie Devine's platform. I nearly choked. I agree with her stance on fair-dealing with public, unionized employees, but wow, everything else she is way out to lunch.

Not sure if I should start a new thread, but there are 2 candidates for my ward, Ward 8.
John Mar, the incumbent, is announcing his platform today (according to his website). He's big on keeping the streets safe which is important in the inner city.
The other, Zak Pashak, announced his goals (if elected) today on a blog on his website. Pashak is big on transit, bike lanes, supporting small businesses, and reducing sprawl. Of note, he opened Broken City in 2003 and founded Sled Island in 2007, which I thought to be very cool.

I'm voting Pashak because I have been very unimpressed by Mar. He is a fence sitter that just waits to see which way the votes are going before deciding what side to drop down onto.

So Mar and Higgins have the same policy group?

Whoever voted for Higgins on here, can you just give a reason why? I can see why someone votes Nenshi, or why someone votes McIver (even if I don't agree with it)....but Higgins? I'm honestly just not seeing what there is to base your vote on. It just does not compute.

My position is very anti Barb Higgins. If I were to vote on the best candidate then I would go Nenshi, but if it really only is a two horse race between McIver and Higgins, then I'm going for McIver to help ensure Higgins doesn't win.
One thing that seems somewhat unsettling is that Nenshi isn't releasing his financial backers like he promised (Sept 20 is too late for a promise made in May) . From looking at all the signs, mailouts, etc. it's clear he's got some substatial backing and I would like to know who, especially for someone who is trying to point out that City Hall is corrupt and wants to change that.

I think the only way to justify it now is if you believe she is charismatic enough to garner consensus and attract investment to Calgary.

After reading the Fast Forward article on Lawrence Oshanek and the other fringe candidates, I'm voting on this poll for Oshanek. A former businessman -turned-homeless dude, he's thrown multiple lawsuits against the City and warns against a creeping police state. A true eccentric at his finest!
"I'm not running for the City, I'm running AGAINST the City."
I LOVE this year's crop of candidates!!

I voted for her, just to annoy a few like yourself on here. For the record I live in Chestermere and cannot vote anyway.
