Default More insanity from a church

The Baptist church being disgraceful and making an ass out of themselves. I am really sick of reading stuff like this. WTF is wrong with some people?

I don't think you can place all 'Baptist' Churches with Westboro Baptist. The people in that church are a big crazy as you can probably tell. It's kind of like saying all Muslim's are terrorists.

It's the same gang of clowns over and over. They're not the same as the baptist church at the end of your block, these guys are a bunch of freaks the same way Al Qaida purports to be muslim.

It's a waste of bandwidth to even link to anything that these guys do.

edit* Beaten on my point, and on my adjective. Screw you guys.

I'm all for the free speech but I'm also for you get what you deserve and if the parents of a soldier killed overseas mowed these people down with their car leaving his funeral, I'd be the first one to stand up and clap.

Please don't lump this extremist group of people with a religious group of people. They call themselves a baptist church to evade taxes.

Like I've said before, if they showed up to a funeral I was attending, I would gladly go to jail to cause them some problems.

These jokers have absolutely nothing to do with the Baptist church.

Or normal organized religion.

They are a cult dreamed up by a lunatic and populated by victims of brain trauma.

Can't truly call themselves Christians if they preach hatred.

LOL, the bible itself teaches hatred.

The end of all religion can't come fast enough.

Well somebody is financially backing these nutters to traispe about the continent holding their demonstrations. I suspect they indeed have quiet, but substantial support within the Baptist community.

I believe a couple of the church members are practicing lawyers. Their church building is probably paid for so they only have to finance their travels. I seriously doubt they need to look outside of their little group to pay their overhead.

Along with soul liberty and separation of church and State one long standing baptist distinctive is the autonomy of the local church. Each church is free standing and accountable to God alone. The last couple centuries have seen a rise of denominations within many baptist churches but, there is still a large segment that don't have any formal or legal tie with any other baptist church.

I understand your sentiment, but doing so would be counter-productive. It would make martyrs out of those (wackos) who die and empower even more wackos to take up the cause.

Sadly, as someone else mentioned, the best we can do is ignore these freaks and their agenda of hate and hope they eventually go away.

Of course it would be counter productive so is having a burger after a workout but goddamn it tastes good.

The best part would picketing their funeral with a sign that reads "GOD HATES WESTBORO BAPTISTS"

Okay, let's play a game. I'll post a bible verse that teaches us to love, and then you post one that teaches us to hate.

Matthew 22:35-39
One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

I'm honestly interested in what you come up with. I don't know the bible that well, but I can't really think of any instance when it taught hatred. Certainly there are many stories about war and conflict, but does it ever really encourage hate?
