Default newly single

Jesus Christ, I never thought I would be posting one of these on here. I was in the relationship of my life, or so I thought, with the same girl for 3.5 years. I thought everything was great, but I just find out she has started seeing someone while I was travelling overseas.

I dumped her pretty hard, but now I don't know what to do. It really feels like the most cliched thing ever, but I think my heart just got broken. How the hell does one rebound from this?

Initial reaction, she was cheating on you while you were overseas. You made the right call.

It always gets better, but go have some drinks with some close friends.

Go find yourself some angry sex, preferably with her sister or her mom.

Trust me, you'll feel awesome after that.

Here's my two-step plan:

1. Hookers

2. Blow

EDIT: Beaten by MB above.

I might suggest The Metaphysics of Morals by Kant as a good starting place. Follow that up with Kierkegaard's Works of Love.

Don't worry bro. Sometimes these things happen. Its time to move on and find new love. It's not your fault she stabbed you in the back.

How old are you? Young enough to hit the clubs? If so, I suggest you do. It might seem dumb but you really only get so long to do it in your life. This may be your last chance to be single.

I've heard the formula of 4:1, so for every 4 months you were with her, it will take you at least one month to get over it.

You're looking at a good 10-11 months, so I wouldn't beat yourself up over "not getting over her", because you will, eventually.

Probably wouldn't look at getting into anything too serious if I were you for the next little while.

Pretty much what others have said, enjoy the freedom, get out with friends, and be a man whore!

Hah, I just turned 25. She said she couldn't make it out with me for my birthday last night. Turns out she was hanging out with this other guy. I guess in some ways, I feel relieved. I had started to feel things for other women or at least realizing that perhaps I was shortchanging myself, but it is amazing how complacent and blind you make yourself in these situations.

Definitely enjoy being single. You will find as guy picking up women is much much easier at 25 than the last time you were single (21ish?).

You know you've been infected by CP when you see this thread and instantly think hookers and blow

Get a Don Johnson Miami Vice suit and hit the clubs.
