Default Gran Turismo 5 - It's finally out!

After what seems like an eternity, the actual Gran Turismo 5 is finally coming out.

This is one of the games I was most excited about when I bought my PS3. GT is easily one of my favorite game franchises.

Release date: November 24th

Key Game Features
  • 1,000 Vehicles - 170 Premium new models, including hybrids and EVs, and 830 kinds of standard models similar to those seen in previous games.
  • Plenty of Courses - Rip it up in more than 20 courses, more than 60 layouts.
  • New Physics - The in-game physics system simulation is brand new to the series, and allows for greater realism and damage.
  • Arcade Mode - Allows for single race functionality and 2-player battle.
  • GT Mode Features - World Map, My Garage, Car Dealer, Tuning Shop, Car Washes/Oil Change, Race Championship (Series system, point system), License Test.
  • Online Features - 16-player support, Open Lobby, Text / Voice Chat, Private rooms, Online Photo Album, Online Replay Album, YouTube replay output.
  • Photo Mode - Photo Drive and Photo stage.
  • Gran Turismo TV - Video output to a PSP or PSP Go, Progressive Download, Improved user interface, continuous play for videos.
What do you guys think? Is this game on your must-have list? The 16-player online mode sounds pretty promising.

The photo mode is actually pretty awesome as well. I played around with it quite a bit in GT4.

It's too deep for me, but I have a buddy who's all weird about Turismo. He bought his PS3 for it about 2 years ago and has been crushed emotionally each time there was a delay. He still plays GT4 all the time.

I bought a special chair, wheel and pedals just for GT, and the only reason I initially bought a PS2 was for GT.

Are you sure it's only 1000 vehicles? I've been hearing somewhere in the range of 5 to10 times that amount.

Unless you're not including the car model variations.

Are they putting in a Nascar race or something? I remember hearing about that a while back.

830 kinds of weird import models is what I think they meant to say.

How many Nissan Skyline’s does the world need.

Edit: I take that back - it’s quite a bit more diverse than previous iterations of the game. Between the PT Cruiser and Chevy Astro, I’m set

I bought the PS3 at launch just for this game. The delays have sucked! Gran Turismo and Civilization are my two favorite games series, both releasing new installments within a couple of months. Its going to be an unproductive Fall/Winter for me!

I've already pre-ordered GT5 from Future Shop when they had a 10% web sale a few weeks ago. I won't get it the first day, but that is OK, because the deal I struck with my wife is that I have to wait a few weeks, until my birthday, to play it. That will suck, but I should be occupied with Civ 5 anyway.

What chair did you get? I have the wheel and pedals, but think I will get a cockpit for this one.

Yeah, there are Nascar events and vehicles in GT5

The best thing added, IMO, is a realistic damage model. You'll no longer be able to use hitting other cars as a driving strategy. I hope this also adds a more complex currency element to the game for repairs, modifications, etc...

Having the Top Gear test-track is worth the $60 price tag alone.

Not to mention its rally mode is supposed to rival Dirt 3, an entire game. Plus it has normal racing, that rivals Forza.

This game is going to be sick.

Maybe you have to spend some of your race winnings on gas

That is why you race diesel. Depending on how long the pits are, diesel racing is very effective. Ask Audi.

X Rocker Pro, and a Driving Force GT wheel pedal set. But what i really want is the new Thrustmaster Ferrari Scuderia wireless setup.

It may have something to do with your tires wearing down. You can't turn as sharply.
