Default 3rd Party Magsafe Adapters (for apple laptops)

Anyone ever used one?

Needing a 2nd adapter for my 17" pro, and the price difference is around 30-40$.

Some reviews look good and some look bad on the same product, so looking to hear other opinions

All I will say is this: the power board inside a Macbook Pro (current and current-1 generations) is not a separate piece from the motherboard. If a third party adapter damages the power board, you are looking at a minimum $700 repair via Apple to replace the board (that was for a 13" Macbook Pro, a 17" will be more expensive)

Maybe it works, probably (almost definitely) it works. But personally, I'm not interested in taking a chance on clean, reliable power to a $1500+ laptop just to save $30

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too.

It just occurred to me too that the Apple adapters have a nice feature that I remember reading about - thermal protection - they will turn off if they overheat. I doubt a cheap knockoff has that level of care put into its design.
