DSLR Pr0N
For us nerds that prefer shooting things with non lethal devices. I present the DSLR Pr0N thread. Post your rigs, I know there is a bunch of photog's that frequent the site. The irony of this is, I had to use my crappy 5 year old $99 point and shoot, to photograph my $4000 worth of gear.
Body:
Canon T1i with battery grip
Flash:
Canon Speedlight 430EXII
Lenses (all canon):
- EF 50mm f/1.8 (awesome for low light)
- EFS 18-55 IS kit lens (does the job well)
- EF 75-300 Ultrasonic (I hate this lens, it is useless)
- EFS 55-250 IS (best walkaround and most versatile lens)
- And the tower of power Canon EF 100-400 f4.5/5.6ISL Super-telephoto. F'n dream lens! Most versatile L out there. And pretty damn affordable for what you get (If you consider $1800 affordable).
And more tripods and accessories than I'll ever use.
This is what I shoot stuff with.

I have a Canon T1i too. Great camera for the price. I only have the kit lens right now.
My thing is underwater photography. I have a digital point and shoot, Olympus SP560, with an under water housing and strobe. I love camera, but it's almost time to replace it. Hopefully, I will have enough extra cash to convert my T1i into an underwater camera within the next year. That will cost me about $2500 to start, and then I'll need to buy a strobe and arms for it, which could tack on another $2000 to the cost.

Darn. I wish I had money to burn to buy something like this. I've always wanted one but the hobby is just too darn expensive for a poor student like me. That or give up playing hockey... and I'm not sure I want to do that

$1250 from BH photo, and ready to go. I am very tempted to get this myself.
The reviews are awesome, and you don't need to buy strobes. But I know alot of people will by an old XT or XTi and get a top end outdated underwater housing for a 1/3 of the price. So essentially you are all in for less than the price of a current housing and you get a camera that if you have a housing failure, you're not gonna want to kill yourself over. Its probably the route I am going to go.

Right now is an awesome time to get in cheap as long as you don't care about video recording... which is pretty akward on DSLR's. Models without video are being blown out, and to be honest, I never use it on my camera, as I have a dedicated HD video camera.
You can pick up Rebel XS's with IS kit lens's for $399 at Walmart. For most people, the pictures will be no different than if you get a a super expensive setup. For the first year, the learning curve is so steep anyway, you will have all you need. Its essentially what I started with (XT then XS) and I paid $1100 for my XT in 2006... body only, and that was a deal! The current XS is twice the camera, with a lens, for a third of the cost.

Canon T2i (ooh ooh ooh movies) *hate having to use expensive class 10 cards tho
Sigma 50-200m DC OS HSM (one slick lens crushes my old canon IS 50-250mm) *selling btw
Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM
Sigma Fisheye 15mm f/2.8 EX DG
Canon F1.8 50mm (must have IMO for the bucks)
I like the Sigma build as you can tell the panning for video/photo's seems so much better on the Sigma OS vs the Canon IS system.

16GB class 10 from Memory express $47.99.
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Product...7%28ME%29.aspx
I picked 2 of em up about a month ago for $36 each when they were on sale. I would check in periodically with them.
Also any good suggestions for a affordable Macro? Its the last piece I really need to have what I would consider a complete suite of lenses.

Where are all my Nikon brothers and sisters?
Nikon D90 with battery grip - 2nd Nikon DSLR.
Nikkor 35mm F/1.8 - Brilliant indoor low light lens.
Nikkor 50mm F/1.8 - Super sharp and produces stunning bokeh.
Tokina 11-16mm F/2.8 - Top super wide lens for DX.
Tamron 90mm F/2.8 - Macro lens, very sharp and not too expensive.
Nikkor 18-200mm VR - All in one walk around / travel lens.

I have the same kit as you, minus the battery grip, the fast primes, the wide-angle lens, and the macro lens. Someday.

My gear:
Medium Format:
- Hasselblad 503cw with 60mm Zeiss lens. No SLR can come close to in terms of detail.
- Mamiya 7ii Rangefinder with 80mm - the sharpest lens I've ever seen...even beats the Zeiss. The perfect travel medium format.
When it comes to 35mm, I was brought up as a Nikon system man (though I do think Canons are great too):
- Nikon d80 (need to replace this sucker soo, but hoping for a smaller full-frame SLR)
- Nikon F4 with motordrive - This thing, former top of the line Nikon, is a tank.
- Nikon FE (my favorite simple Nikon classic)
- Nikon Coolpix s600 (meh, not loving it but its nice and small).
- Nikkor 18-70mm lens
- Nikkor 70-300mm lens
- Couple old but great 50mm lenses...
Also:
-iPhone 3gs (hey sometimes the camera you have on you is the best camera for the job!)

That's a great lens....looking to get one myself, but I'm hesitating as it's not a FX (full-frame), and was hoping to upgrade to full-frame soon with my next DSLR.

I'd recommend a Nikon d5000. It's an awesome camera, that 90% of people will be more than satisfied with. It's compact enough to carry around, but doesn't fall short in terms of technology. Great all around camera. 650 bucks for the body...
