Parking Around Jack Singer
My expecting wife and I are going to Our Lady Peace tonight, and I need a little help. I hate downtown, and I always seem to find the 2nd or 3rd closest parking lot (there's always one closer) to anything we do down there.
What is close to, without being ubber expensive. We're not expecting to go early, so anything on site may not be an option. Also, we don't want to have to walk blocks to get there, and back to the car for obvious reasons. (I'm lazy, she's pregnant.)
Can anyone help me out here?

There is the undeground parking under the municipal building, you access it off of 9th avenue just east of Macleod Trail SE.
I'm not sure if the lots on the south side of 9th avenue by it are still open due to all the construction in the area (east of Macleod again).

I go to the Jack Singer on a regular basis and always park in the Palliser East parkade that you enter on 9th Ave. From there it is maybe 3.5 blocks via the Plus 15 system.
If you enter after 5 pm, maybe 6 pm, the parking is either $5 or $6 for the entire night, depending on which day of the week it is.
Convention center works too, but I find it a pain in the arse to get out of there, but that would depend on which way you need to orient yourself on the way home. I prefer to end up on 10 Ave for my travel home, so that is why the Palliser parkade is very convenient for me.

If you mean City Hall, yes, and about the same rates.
BUT.....his wife is pregnant, it is not a nice or easy walk for a pregnant lady from that location.

How is the walk from the municipal building parkade that bad for a pregnant lady? Up the elevator and walk across the +15 and you are there.

There's only a few artists that hit Calgary that we wouldn't miss. OLP is one of them. Here's hoping she doesn't give birth, although, THAT would be "rock 'n roll".
PS - She's only about 6 months... we should be fine... right?

Best for us would to be to head to Memorial, then head north on the Deerfoot to Airdrie.

If it was at MacHall I'd argue that the baby would be jealous of the mosh-pit and unleash hell inside Mom. But at the Jack you'll be fine.
If she gives birth at the show, get the band to autograph the baby blanket.

Maybe I am confusing the municipal building with something else. You mean the one you access I think off 5th Ave? close to the Y?
That is the one I am thinking of and there are stairs involved too, depending I guess on which level of the Jack Singer your seats are.
Anyhow, I have not used that parking in some time, so perhaps things have changed now.

Seen them live twice. First time was when they opened for Alanis back when they released 'Clumsy'. The last time was when they played the Jube, and Raine sang 'Will The Future Blame Us' while standing beside two kids, probably 12 years old.
Loved the one opening act, where his bandmates were unable to get into the country due to paperwork issues or something, so he took to the stage by himself (he played later with OLP). Blew me away. I want to say that the band was called Pedestrian .
The other highlight was when Never Ending White Lights opened as well, and played 'Liar' featuring Raine Maida, and 'The Grace'... so much passion in those songs. It's rare that I get lost into songs at a concert... I did with 'The Grace'.
I've been a fan of OLP since 'Clumsy', so my wife and I try and see them when they hit town. Missed when they recorded their live album, haven't seen them on the Coke stage at Stampede... and the one I still kick myself over was when they played at SAIT's Gateway.
Thanks for all your help with this. Municipal Building may be our best shot. I doubt it'll be an issue, but do they close the parkade there by a certian time at all?

If she gives birth at the show, I think we'd have to name it Raine or Ohelpea.

Nope, you are thinking of the wrong lot. This is off of 9th avenue and it is underneath the municipal building. You take an elevator up and walk across the +15 over Macleod right into the Epcor centre.

Ok, I am thinking of the lot that city hall employees use. A friend that quite often came to shows at Jack Singer with me was a city employee and parked there. We parked there if she drove and as I said before, I would not recommend that hike for a pregnant lady.
