Tornados in YYC? Well the RAF type.
For all the aviation junkies here, and people that like loud noises in general.
Yesterday 3 RAF Tornado's ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tornado_GR4) arrived at the airport. They will be joined by a fourth and will be here until approximately May 26th and will begin flying their training sorties (probably to Suffield) on Friday.
I'm hoping to get out and get some shots of them. Not sure what schedule they will be keeping, but if it is anything like the last few years they tend to do quite a lot of flying during the day.

That is one sexy aircraft. I have always wanted to be a fighter pilot.
One time when skiing at Panorama, two F-18's came screaming down the valley and did a banking manoever over the mountain and went screaming the other way. It was freaking sweet.

I just saw that The Calgary Sun had a small article on them today. In typical Sun fashion it was wrong (saying 2 fighters instead of the 3 already here) and that they will only be here for a week. My sources have been telling me they are here until the 26th and I hope that is the case.

Bah. If you live near an airport, there WILL be aircraft. Some louder than others. Live with it.

Damn straight, personally I'd love the sound of aircraft over my house all day long. Then again I'm not quite right in the head when it comes to these things!

If anyone finds a flight time, I'd love to go snap some pics. (Preferably at dusk)

Reminds me of Aviation Nation in Vegas in November. Most beautiful planes, most beautiful noises.
seeing an f-22 up close, and also seeing it fly by doing slightly under the speed of sound. Amazing!

That year, two of them in formation flew over our property in Priddis, real low too. I guess they were performing some manoevers.
I was out gardening and that noise scared the bejeebers out of me. What a rumble and deafening roar, you could just hear and feel the power of those aircraft.
My husband was tending to the horses and the noise scared the bejeebers out of the horses too.....

Not being too aircraft savvy here so please excuse the dumb question.
This to me just looks like your average run of the mill commercial aircraft. What about it makes it sound any cooler or different?

Here are some pictures I took two summers ago...
First two lined up at the 16 threshold to go..

Then one was gone (along with an ear drum of mine) and I got the second one pulling away..

I live 10 mins from Luke AFB and see upwards of 20-30 F-16's on a daily basis. We're supposed to be getting the F-35 in the next few years.. hopefully.
