Default Video Editing - Windows - Free - Anyone?

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has tried any good free video editing products out there.

Not looking for anything fancy, just chopping WMV and MPEG videos into clips and combining them into a movie to burn.

We have tried Windows Movie maker, but everytime we chop clips and add them to a movie, it adds a progressively larger black border to the video - according to web searches its because its trying to keep the aspect ratio the same.

Thanks. Michael.

VirtualDub is very basic but what it does it does very well.

I wanted to thank you, but then I re-read the original post. I suggest you do the same.

It's what I've used, had no problems in the past. But clearly the OP has.

+1 unthanks.

When we cut clips with windows movie maker then join them together wmm adds continuously larger black borders around the video for some reason.

It seems fairly common issue where for whatever reason wmm is adding these black borders to correct aspect ratio. Its my dad doing it, I will figure out this weekend if its an actual problem or not
