Default dBpoweramp Sill Good?

I'm looking for a simple (but GOOD) audio converter for Windows. I use XLD on my Mac, but I have some stuff to do on my Windows laptop. I used to use dBpoweramp back in the day, but I'm not sure if it's still the way to go or not.

I like really simple (does not mean "easy") software that only opens when you need it to, only does what you tell it to and closes completely when you want it to. It also has to be very good at what it does.

(In other words, no "rip your music for FREEEEE omgomgomg" shareware crap.)

I still use CDex, hasn't been in development for a while
but it does everything I need it to.
