Shantz sounds like a pretty grounded guy. Glad to see things are going his way in Abbotsford - I thought he looked better than Keetley, Irving, and McBackup at the Flames training camp last fall, so maybe he'll get a look at the NHL level if Toskala doesn't stick around.

This to me really emphasizes the importance of having a steady place for your prospects to play regularily and develop properly. Bouncing these young guys around from team to team and organization to organization really hurts their development IMO.

Actually seems like we might have upgraded on Lalande within our organization, plus added a 3rd rounder in the process.

It was a 4th rounder in 2009 which we picked Henrik Bjorklund with.
Stats wise they are pretty similar this year, with the edge as of right now going to Lalande.

It actually wasn't Bjorklund. The pick we got in the Lalande trade (#107) was actually traded to the Kings along with our third rounder (#84) to move up in the third round to #74, with that pick we drafted Howse.
