Backlund during the Olympics
Out of curiosity, I looked in on how Backlund has been performing since his return to Abbotsford.
Feb 15: 5-1 win over Toronto, 2 goals, +2
Feb 19: 4-2 loss to Providence, 1 assist, -2
Feb 20: 1-0 win over Bridgeport, nada
Feb 21: 5-2 win over Providence, 1 goal, -1
Feb 24: 3-2 win over Bridgeport, 2 assists, +1
Feb 26: 5-4 win over Worcester, 1 goal, +1
Feb 27: 4-3 win over Worcester, 1 goal, 2 assists, +4
All in all, 5 goals, 5 assists and a +5 in 7 games. Not too bad, and perhaps a sign that his confidence was boosted by the pre-Olympics stint with the Flames.

Reason: Sorry, messed up the Feb 21 score. Should be 5-2, not 5-1. Also updated for 2/27 game.

Sutter may wait until after the roster limit is lifted.

Sorry, but I couldn't tell you.
I just took a cursory overview of box scores to see how he's been scoring during the olympic hiatus.
He could be on a better line, or perhaps the team's recent winning streak is why his scoring is at a better pace now then before the call-up. I'll let everyone's imagination fill in the blanks.

He scored on the pp. And one goal scored against even strength.

Apologies, I messed up the Providence score. It should have been 5-2 Heat.
The Feb 19th game is a loss, so at first blush I don't see why that may be inconsistent with his +/-.

Backlund now has a goal and 2 assists and is +3 at the end of the 2nd period. He has contributed on all 3 Abby goals. They lea 3-2.

Not sure what happened but Keetley was pulled after giving up two goals. I can't believe Shants is now our number one goalie prospect....

Watt scores to make it 4-3, I believe Backlund was on the ice for this one as well, he is now +4 on the night.

Keetley was never our number one goalie prospect. I've liked Shantz so far, have ever since he came into the organization and stopped all 3 in the 'historic' Fleury shootout.

Last I heard Shantz isn't signed to a Calgary contract, so we can't really consider him our prospect.

Never let facts get in the way of a good rant.
It's no point in correcting people on these sorts of points anymore because it's going to be universally ignored.

I would like to see Shantz signed. Lots of late bloomers when it comes to goalies. If hes the best than give him the ball.
